This doctor is so condescending and make the patient feel bad instead helping them.

Had the same experience as other reviews. Dr. Chen arrived late (was sitting on the table in a gown for ~20 mins) and then seemed irritated when I had questions after my skin care check. I waited weeks to get into this appointment and paid almost $70 copay, the least I would expect is a few minutes to talk to a specialist about my concerns. She seemed irritated and even went as far as to remove her gloves and pull back the curtain to leave as I was in the middle of asking a question. I also work in healthcare and was completely appalled by her bedside manner and lack of professionalism. Will not go back to see her.

Like another user said below i recall when i saw her that she was very arrogant know it all, and also condescending. The smug look on her face was the tip of the iceberg though. Without doing hardly any thorough examination or asking in depth questions she immediately prescribed doxycycline which RUINED MY GUT and although temporarily cleared my skin, it came back in full force and has been here to stay 8 years later. i’m 23 now If you read this please never take antibiotics for acne. do not take doxy. below i have compiled some testimonies and side effects of its use. It is very dangerous and harmful and i’m not sure why this was allowed to prescribe this to me:

Clearly has no interest in patients. Was late and afraid to come close to me to do a mole/skin check. She did from a distance and told me to "hold my breath" when I removed my mask?!? Don't see patients if you are not going to do a good job and are afraid. Stay home! This joke of a doctor cost me $70! GO SEE ANOTHER DOCTOR! This one is terrible!

Had an appointment with Dr. Catherine Chen for my son today. I was there on time but he got lost coming from school since we've never been there before. The check in girl told me if he's not there in 15 mins. he can't be seen. Even though the schedule board indicated Dr. Chen was already running 30mins. late, that didn't matter, just that we can't be late regardless. My son was getting close and I asked for another 5 mins. She called to check with the doctor and she said no! We had no effect on her schedule since she was already running way behind schedule anyway. I understand they have policies but I was there on time, my kid got lost, asking for another 5 mins. that no way effects her and other patients schedule, and she just said no. I guess she preferred to go home early instead of seeing her patients. The girl told me to call to reschedule- no thank you, who wants a doctor like that!

Been a patient for over 5 years. I always book the first appointment of the day to avoid long delays. I arrived to my appt on time, was taken to the exam room on time and then proceeded to sit there and wait in a exam gown for over 30 minutes. No Dr Chen. The nurse came in an apologized - brought me a warm blanket and said the Dr wasnt there yet and she wasnt sure why. Finally the Dr arrives so I ask her why the delay. She instantly snaps at me and tells me she was in her office working on something “important.” Completely LIED to me after wasting 30 minutes of my time. Not to mention the rest of her appointments will now be 30 minutes behind schedule. Zero respect for her patients time and has no problem lying right to a patients face. I will never return.

Dr Chen was condescending. She diagnosed my skin rash as bug bites and I was wasting her time. Seemed annoyed when I asked her to do complete body skin evaluation even after I told her it had not been done in 40 years! I teach a course called the "Practice of Medicine" to UCSD med students. Her attitude, bedside manner and ability to connect with patients might keep her from passing the course!

Dr. Chen is highly qualified,very caring.

I saw 'Dr. Chen' for a minor derm issue (dry skin). I am a busy professional and had to rearrange my schedule to make this initial appointment. A few months later I tried to refill a routine rx for acne medication and she refused, saying 'I need to see you for this refill.' I think the physician needs the RVUs, which is a bad omen....

I have been struggling with rosecea and scalp bumps for years with different doctors. Within two months after seeeing her I have been almost completly clear.
