Dr. Catherine S Chung, MD

Dr. Chung is a caring and compassionate doctor. She spends ample time with patients to answer questions and ease concerns. However, she is so popular that she is being booked past capacity. At my first appointment, I was told upon arrival that she was running late due to an emergency. I ended up waiting 1.5 hours total past my appointment time until I finally saw her. I was not given any updates during that time in terms of how long to expect to be waiting. I gave her the benefit of the doubt, assuming this was beyond her control and booked my next appointment. At the next appointment, I showed up for my ultrasound at my designated time slot and got in right away. The ultrasound took less than fifteen minutes. I was supposed to meet with Dr. Chung immediately following the ultrasound and ended up in the waiting room for an hour before I saw her. I was not told by any staff member that she was running late. At my third appointment today, I waited forty five minutes past my designated… appointment time before I saw her and again was not told she would be running late. There needs to be better communication between staff and patients when she is running late and it would appear her staff should be booking her for less appointments per day.

My mom had a hysterectomy with Dr. Chung. During the surgery, Dr.Chung "accidentally knicked" my mom's bladder. After calling in another surgeon to help her see what she cut, they concluded she didn't put a hole in the bowel and sewed my mom up. LONG story short, my mom spent 5 years with the hole, causing any liquid in her bladder to spill out...constantly. For FIVE years, she had to wear pads and couldn't do any of the things she used to enjoy so much. Catherine Chung would not follow up with my mom, insisted no mistake was made, etc. My mom had to switch doctors and finally, last year, a good doctor found the mistake and fixed it. Dr. Chung's mistake that she refused to fix cost my parents almost $20,000 in pads, procedures, and looking for answers. DO NOT GO TO CATHERINE CHUNG. Not only was the physical aspect TERRIBLE for my mom, but I have NEVER seen her with such low self esteem. She felt like an old woman. Please, ladies, do not let Chung operate on you or work with you.

Dr. Chung was great throughout my entire pregnancy and especially during my labor. She was very personable and courteous throughout the entire process.

I had been going to Dr. Chung for almost 5 years for just routine things. When I became pregnant last year I was excited because Dr. Chung had always treated me like more of a friend than a patient. From the beginning however, she calculated my due date incorrectly and refused to change it when I told her it was wrong. I continued to see her until I was 7 months pregnant and she began talking about induction and telling me the baby was under weight. I asked about the due date being incorrect and that causing his weight to look low. She refused to change the date and had me tested twice a week for almost 3 weeks and told me we would be scheduling an induction. When I told her I was not comfortable with that and that I'd like to wait and let the baby come when he was ready, she said "well I think the induction is just going to be the best decision so you need to go home and discuss it with your husband and call me back to schedule it." I knew this was likely to end in an unnecessary… c-section, so I promptly went home and called a new doctor. I was 39 weeks according to her. The new doctor did more thorough testing understand what I was barely 38 weeks pregnant and scheduled me a due date that was correct with what I had told Dr Chung from the beginning but she refused to accept. My water broke on that due date and I gave birth to a healthy baby boy on my own without scheduling an unnecessary induction or surgery. It's my opinion that Dr. Chung does not want to accept that patients know their bodies better than she does.

I had been going to Dr. Chung since I moved to the area, approximately 8 years ago. The only thing I had made appointments for were routine exams. I started noticing a wide array of health problems, feeling tired, hair falling out, rapid weight gain (30lbs in 3-4 months). After discussing this with Dr. Chung she brushed it off as diet related and said I needed to lose weight. I insisted on a thyroid panel which she agreed only to appease me. Instead she only ordered the TSH test instead of the full panel, which came back normal. So I requested a Vit. D test which came back very low with a level of 18. She insisted this was normal and I was accused, even though this is common knowledge, of self diagnosing. I had to pay for the Vit D testing in full - $200 because they singled out one of my symptoms, billed my insurance for alepecia .. which was declined. When I spoke to the Billing Manager she refused to make adjustments. Insurance insisted that Vit D is a common test to perform… and if they could just add to my chart (not replace) another symptom then they would cover it in full. So I called back a second time and spoke to the same person. She started to discuss my symptoms and for some reason she had my chart ..discussing my symptoms and diagnosis .. things that should have been kept confidential between my doctor and I or even her nurse .. NOT her billing manager. I am now seeing another gynecologist who has sent me to an endocrinologist. I have been diagnosed with very low Vit D and now have a prescription. I was also diagnosed with Hypothyroidism. I wasted too much time and money trying to have the proper tests done, the proper treatment for problems that are fairly common.

Dr. Chung is an great doctor!! After meeting her while during my first pregnancy I knew that with any other pregnancies after that she would be my doctor!! She has gone on to deliver my 2nd and 3rd children! She was always there to answer any questions that i had. I have recommended her to many of my friends!

Dr. Chung is awesome! She's makes you feel like your her best friend or sister! Thanks for being you!

Dr. Chung will look at all choices with you, explains everything and does even dificult procedures with dazzling skill. She even seems to care a lot about her patients.
