Summary
Even as a young girl I knew I wanted to be a doctor. I have always loved children of all ages. My favorite summer job was that of camp counselor for the Girl Scouts and Campfire organizations. I grew up in Ohio and went to the University of Cincinnati for my undergraduate degree and Medical degree. Two days before graduation I married Dr. David Fryefield. (We met in the library at the medical college). We moved to northern California to complete our training. My pediatric residency was at Oakland Children's Hospital from 1980 to 1984. I was asked to be Chief resident during my final year. In this position, I supervised and taught other residents. I successfully passed Board Certification exams in 1985 and am a long-term member of the American Academy of Pediatrics. David trained to be a Radiation Oncologist and is currently director of the Willamette Valley Cancer Institute in Eugene. Eugene seemed the perfect choice to raise a family (3 daughters) and pursue our careers. Recently I …have become more involved in leadership positions at PeaceHealth Medical Group. For several years in a row I have been honored as one of the top pediatricians in this community (Eugene Magazine). I am currently accepting new patients from birth through age 18. I strive to make the experience at my office personal and positive for all. Working as a team with parents and caregivers, I look for practical solutions and try to limit use of antibiotics, imaging tests and medical interventions. I believe in the importance of immunizations. In the rare situation in which a baby or child needs hospitalization I admit patients to the Pediatric unit of Sacred Heart at RiverBend. My interests and hobbies include piano, hiking, observing birds and wildlife, ballroom dancing, reading and cross country skiing.
