Dr. Catherine Spiess, MD

I am not sure what all the bad reviews are about, but I love her... She is one of the best Dr's I have been too. It took me awhile to find one to! I will say some of the office staff is not friendly ( for making new appts. when checking out) but she is attentive and listens to your needs. So for some of the rude staff members she makes up for her. I am sure she does not know about how they act. She takes a lot of time with you to figure out what is going on .

I had been unsuccessful in trying to find a doctor that was accepting new patients. I have a medical issue that is very concerning to me and wanted to see a doctor as soon as possible. I called Dr. Spiess' office on Monday and when I asked if she was accepting new patients, I was prompted to give some preliminary information about myself, was told the doctor was out that day and that I'd receive a call the following day. I waited two days - no phone call. I called again Thursday morning and left a voicemail reiterating the call I made on Monday. It's now Friday and still no call from the office of Dr. Spiess. I would NOT recommend Dr. Spies to ANYONE. I'm only giving her one star because the system is forcing me to give a rating before submitting this review.

I am currently a patient of Dr. Spiess (for now). For years I was a patient of Dr. Shell and was very happy with him as a physician. I moved out of the area and starting seeing a new GP due to my location. A few years ago, I moved back to the area and requested to see Dr. Shell again. I was told even though I was a former patient, it had been too long and he was not accepting new patients. I was told Dr. Spiess was, so I agreed to see her. I have a history of chronic pain, back and neck surgery, and was treated for over 7 years by a Pain Care Specialist. Last year, I discussed getting off the pain meds with him and I succeeded in getting off methadone. His goal (and mine as well) was to have my GP treat me if I had any flare ups. Since it is over 6 months, I cannot see my Pain Doctor without a referral. I visited Dr. Speiss for chronic headaches a little while back. I was given 1 ultram a day for 12 days. The medicine did not do anything, so I contacted her nurse. I… was told to go to the ER. Needless to say, I felt this was ridiculous, as I will only go if it is an ACTUAL emergency, but ultimately ended up going to urgent care. I was given a mild muscle relaxant, which actually helped tremendously.I have had 2 discs fused in my neck and the muscles are always tight, which was contributing to the headaches.I have been experiencing pain and stiffness in my lower back (which also has 2 levels fused) and have been trying to manage the pain myself. The pain has been increasing and I wont even bother making an appointment to see her, as I know I will not be taken seriously, and will ultimately end up spending more money by going to urgent care. I feel that since my past history of being treated at a Pain Clinic for so long, I am viewed / treated as an addict or drug seeking. If I was an addict, I would STILL be going to the pain clinic, and never would have been able to get off of it.

Dr. Spiess is the most incompetent doctor that I have ever been to. It totally perplxes me to see how little this doctor knows about medicine. How on earth did she get Licenced tp PRACTICE MEDICINE???????????????????????????????? I saw her once and she never made an appointment to see me again even though I was on 24 hr. oxygen and am totally disabled. When a doctor whom she referred me to made an awfull mistake which almost took my life. she sent me a letter as soon as I got out of the hospital, saying that she did not want to see me anymore. She is heartless and only cares about herself.
