Dr. Catherine Tota-Thurn, DO

Dr. Tota-Thurn made me feel very uncomfortable and did not bother to listen to my health concerns and literally walked out of the room while I was still trying to talk to her! She is uncaring and extremely rude!

Dr. Tota-Thurn has been my PCP for over 3 years but until today I had only seen her on my initial new patient appointment as I regularly see a PA. It takes weeks to get an appointment with her. Today, she showed up over an hour late for my appointment, without apology and was flippant about it, 'emergencies come up, you know.' Really? Not a single person from that office, a nurse, receptionist, office manager could have told me she would be late so *I* could decide if I had the time to wait for *HER*? (patients have jobs, children, other appointments. Patient time is valuable, too). The patient gets charged for a missed appointment if they are more than 20 minutes late. Today was the last straw. I've already had this practice refuse to let me schedule an appointment because a nurse decided over the phone decided I didn't have the strep throat I knew I contracted from my son. We were going out of town that weekend, so I had to pay $200 to visit an urgent care where they… confirmed in 5 minutes I had strep throat. Terrible patient care. Poorly run office. I'm not sure how a doctor who keeps patients waiting more than an hour without informing them wins awards. If you don't respect or value your patient's time as it were your own, do you really value their health? Not the doctor I want overseeing my healthcare.

I have seen Dr Tota-Turn for years. In recent years I have encountered some serious health issues requiring me to see multiple doctors that all give conflict responses. On more than one occasion Dr Tota-Turn spent time with me on the phone talking out the best approach. She was willing to tell me what she thought was the best option, when most doctors won't. When my insurance limited the doctors I could see, she spent 30 minutes on the phone with me, listening to me list doctors and telling me who she knew and what she thought. I don't know how I would have gotten through a lot of it without her. I know she keeps up on all of test and results other doctors order. She truly stays on top of my care. When ever I use the portal, she or another member of her staff, get's back to me the same day. I really like Dr Tota-Thurn and can't imagine selecting another PCP.

Dr. Tota-Thurn truly saved my life this past year. We had recently changed PCP and am so glad we did. She is compassionate and caring! Dr. Tota-Thurn and the entire practice are exceptional!!

Make sure you have a stopwatch on your visits with Dr. Tota-thurn, set it for 5 minutes because anything over that and she will start to check her watch. Maybe there is a ratio that the longer the appointment the less her paycheck becomes. I will not be entrusting my life to a cold Doctor, cold staff and a cold business.

Highly recommend Dr. Tota-Thurn. She is thorough in her examination. She practices a pro-active approach in your healthcare.

Last time I saw Dr Thurn, I spend 1 hour (40 mins in the waiting room and 20 mins in the room) waiting for her. I had an apt and arrived on time. She spend exactly 5 minutes with me completely disregarding my concerns. She ordered yearly bloodwork and never called back after receiving results. She comes off arrogant and not caring. I am looking for a new PCP.
