Dr. Catherine Elizabeth Waud, MD

Dr Waud is the rudest, most condescending Dr I have ever had to deal with. She has 0 interest in listening and even less interest in being helpful and finding potential causes and effects. Can’t wait to get rid of the patient, but makes sure to belittle them as much as possible while she’s deigning to spend time with you. She has a ridiculously high opinion of herself and her abilities. Run don’t walk to another endocrinologist.

My husband ran out of his insulin this past weekend and Dr Waud was on call. She was so RUDE. Absolutely disgusted with how she responded to him as he had her on speaker phone in the car! The fact that she is a physician and responds to patients in that manner is appalling!!!

I saw Dr. Waud today for the first time. She is an excellent no nonsense straight forward Dr. I would recommend her to anyone. If you want your hand held and to be coddled, she is not the one for you. I loved her!

Dr. Waud was punctual. I checked in and was brought right in the exam room and I waited less than 5 minutes before she came in. Dr. Waud was very thorough - asked a lot of questions and explained why she was asking them. She also called me herself to explain my lab results and how to proceed. I would definitely recommend her to anyone who needs an endocrinologist!

Always accurate, well thought out treatment with expert consideration of other medical issues.

Oh my God, oh my god! I was referred to this delightful woman by my pcp. In the 33 years I have been alive, I have never had a worse experience with a doctor, unless you count my pediatric dentist who gave me a ton of fillings just so he could scam the insurance companies. But, at least he was kind enough to provide a new toothbrush as a parting gift! Dr. Waud came in to the exam rm and immediately started complaining to me about how incompetent her staff was. She insisted that absolutely every, single issue I was having was soley a direct result of my weight. She asked me almost nothing. She treated me as if I repulsed her. I'm overweight, but I'm very clean and I take pride in my appearance. She continually checked her watch, then promptly told me to schedule another appointment before storming out without so much as a "goodbye". Wait. This is in no way connected to my endocrine system, but you want me to make a second appointment with YOU, an endocrinologist? Thanks, I'd rather be… at the supermarket, before a snowstorm, the day before Christmas, behind an old woman with coupons, who is writing a check. I told her receptionist there would be absolutely no way I'd be scheduling a 2nd appointment, and she actually told me she understood !! Run, DO NOT WALK, away from this woman!

I had seen Dr. Waud briefly years ago yet couldn't remember much about her. When I looked at some of the reviews I was nervous about her bedside manner. However, when she came into the room I was immediately at ease. She is knowledgeable in her field, and personable . She took the time to explain every thing and made sure I understood it. She went above and beyond in researching my past medical history (pulling up records from an old computer system from almost 20 years prior.) I was extremely happy with this caring doctor.

Dr Waud is very professional and explains all diagnosis to you.

Very prompt. Always on time but you need to have your list of questions ready to go because she's fast. She may come off as being rude but she speaks fast with a slight accept which is just her normal tone and I've found she's not really being rude...even laughing has same tone. Rude sounding or not she's a very smart woman who was quick to diagnosis something 4 other endrocrinologists missed. If you have a parathyroid problem or pituary adrenal issues she seems to be the expert in the area. If you are a diabetic who doesn't take care of themselves stay clear she won't have empathy but for more difficult hard to diagnose issues she won't hold your hand but may get u a diagnosis.

Dr. Waud is awful. I would give zero stars if I could!!!! I saw her when I was diagnosed with underfunctioning thyroid in pregnancy. At first she was great, did thorough testing, found positive antibodies, diagnosed Hashimoto's, and started me on medication. After delivery, she requested to see me again and abruptly stopped my meds. I could never get a return call about further check-ups, and a few months later recieved a letter stating she had left her Worcester office at UMass (she is still there) and never heard another word. After a year and a half of fighting with numerous GPs at my family practitioner group, I finally returned to UMass under Dr. Elias, who scheduled me, ran blood work and called in a prescription for me to go back on the meds that Dr. Waud insisted that I didn't need- all within 24 hours!!! Oh, and Dr. Waud had the nerve to put in the report of my last visit that I requested to go off of the meds.... Terrible doctor on the verge of many malpractice suits.
