Cathy Johnson, RN, MSN, ARNP is a nurse practitioner in private practice in Fairbanks, AK providing medication management and individual therapy for patients experiencing depression, anxiety, Bipolar Disorders, Attention Deficit Disorder and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.Cathy served in the US Army for over 20 years in roles such as clinical nurse specialist/nurse practitioner in behavioral health, administration and education. While assigned at the Army Medical Department Center and School at Ft. Sam Houston, TX she was the program direct for the joint US Army – US Navy psychiatric technician training course and served as the psychiatric nurse consultant to the office of the US Army Surgeon General. She was the Deputy Commander for Nursing in Heidelberg, Germany before transferring to Ft. Wainwright, AK where she served as Deputy Commander at Bassett Army Hospital prior to her Army retirement. Cathy then worked as a behavioral health nurse practitioner for the Veterans …Administration (VA) establishing the first fulltime behavioral health clinical position at the Fairbanks VA Clinic.She and her husband, Carl, established North Wind Behavioral Health in 2013 providing outpatient services along with two therapists. Cathy has a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Nursing from Alfred University, NY, a Masters of Science in Nursing from Medical College of Georgia and a Master of Health Administration from Baylor University. She is certified in her specialty by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) and is a Fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives (FACHE). In her free time. She enjoys summer traveling and RV camping with friends in AK, archery, and outdoor cooking and in winters, cross country skiing and quilting.
