Dr. Cecilia Awa Carpio-Lacoursiere, MD

I was about 15 or 20 minutes late to my last appointment, which was in March. Dr. Carpio was with another client and unable to see me. I understood of course, so I went home, after being told by Dr. Carpio's receptionist that they would make another appointment for me and get back to me. But they never did give me another appointment. My husband stopped by the clinic today to ask the receptionist if Dr. Carpio could write out a new prescription for my medication because it ran out a few days ago. The receptionist went to talk to Dr. Carpio and then the receptionist told him that I can "get the medication through a primary physician." I am shocked, hurt, and angry. She acted like she cared but obviously she does not. My next door neighbor is my closest friend and my neighbor told me, when we took our husbands out for a Fathers Day dinner recently, that she had also been unable to get any follow up appointments with this psychiatrist for the last several months. My friend was obviously… hurt by this, because she told me, "I guess Dr. Carpio gave up on me, which means I must be a lost cause in her opinion." But my friend is the sweetest woman, far from a "lost cause." Like me, she is in her early 60s and has severe chronic PTSD from an abusive former marriage and other trauma. The last thing that people like us need is to be treated like we do not matter or like we are a lost cause! In all my life I have never seen a clinic that treats its patients so poorly as the Clovis VA clinic where this doctor works. I am done with shrinks. I will search online and find ways to get better on my own.
