Dr. Cesar Tobias Fernandez, MD

This doctor is a complete joke. My son began seeing him after being admitted to Gadsden Regional Hospital. He said my son’s issues are typical with cirrhosis and claimed he only has about a year left. It feels like he doesn’t care, just because my son brought this on himself. He told me the best thing was for him to stop drinking—HELLO, he already has, and you’ve been told that many times (9 months)! During his last hospital stay, nothing was done, despite a scan showing a mass or shadow around his liver. Don’t waste your time here—go to the UAB Liver Center instead! They’re amazing, attentive, and completely nonjudgmental.

3 MONTHS SINCE I SEEN HIM NO CALLS NO CHECKING ON ME OR MY MEDICINE HE SUPPOSED TO GET ME I HAD TO CALL THE PHARMACY CORPORATION IN BHMAM MYSELF ABOUT IT AND THEY SAID HIS STAFF HASNT DONE ANYTHING SINCE DAY I SEEN HIM WHEN HE REQUESTED MY MEDICINE. THEY SAID IM SUPPOSED HAVE BLOOD WORK FOR MEDICINE AND HE KNOWS THAT BUT WAS NEVER TOLD ABOUT BLOOD WORK OR ASKED TO DO IT. CALLED LEFT MULTIPLE MESSAGES LIKE IT SAYS TO NOT 1 TIME HAS ANYONE GOT BACKED WITH ME. UNLESS HE KNOWS U OR UR FAMILY OR ARE GONNA MAKE HIM A HUGE AMOUNT OF MONEY HE DONT CARE

Dr Fernandez has been my GI for years. Highly recommend. Great staff.

Dr Fernandez has treated and will continue to treat both of my parents. He’s a wonderful doctor.

May 2018 he refused to do a simple scope when she had bleeding stomach ulcer in hospital and fired me even though it is illegal to fire a patient while they are sick. He was out of line and yelled at me in which the hospital nurses documented it on my charts. I got the test from another doctor because thankfully a friend called in a favor as an emergency. I also sent a letter and pics to Dr f a showing him his mistake .Dr f had been my whole families doctor for over 25 plus years so I am unsure why he treated me so bad but I found out from my niece someone was telling doctors not to treat me for a long time. Wether or not Dr f was contacted I can't be sure of but he had been nice to me previously. When I say he yelled at me he yelled at both me and my husband and told us both to find another stomach doctor

I had one visit with him and the experience was so bad I called and canceled my follow up. He was very rushed and very rude. Unwilling to answer my questions.

Be very cautious when seeing this doctor. I am young and healthy and was misdiagnosed by this doctor. I carried all my records to UAB for another doctor to see and they told me this was a misdiagnosis and would write me a letter for insurance purposes. All that needed to be done was my gallbladder to be removed to clear up what he let me SUFFER with for 2 years. On top of that gave me medicines that had yellow labels that clearly stated MAY CAUSE CANCER. Always be aware of your own body and make smart choices. If you feel like you need a second option you probably do.

Dr Fernandez is by far the best gastro doctor in the southeast USA! We are lucky to have him here in Alabama!

I was misdiagnosed and suffered for a year with a gall bladder that should have been taken out.

Great bedside manner and wonderful caring of the patient. Yeah he may be a little late but what the heck he is helping someone. listens and looks you in the eye when talking to you about what is going on. Keeps his promises about the care. He has blessed me by being my Doctor. Thanks
