Dr. Tony Dobija, MD

He's a professional doctor with a lot of expertise, but incredibly insensitive and short with me. Anything related to mental health or a sensitive topic like my weight were treated really dismissively. I had gained weight due to a really abusive relationship and Dr. Dobija listened to my story, prescribed me zoloft, and then cornered me about my weight in a shameful way. I'm sorry, but cortisol in the body due to stress like I had causes weight gain and instead of asking how he can help me restore my health, he shamed me about it. That way of approaching health is too old school and is destructive in this day and age, especially for me as someone trying to build herself back up from a really horrible 3 years of my life.

I went to see him twice, and I was impressed with what he did. See, the first time he was on a very busy schedule and I was late. So we were short on time and I gave him a lot of information which would have been a bit overwhelming. But here's where he excelled: Rather than treat me like a problem, as some doctors might have, he took in all this information, ordered a couple of tests, and asked me to come back the following week. When I went back he had reviewed everything and had spotted something other doctors had complacently overlooked. He called me personally about it and referred me to a specialist for more help with it. He paid attention to the details, he listened to everything I said, and he was considerate and kind. And his followup is excellent. So yes, from everything I have experienced so far, he's a keeper.

On my first visit Dr. Dobija was correct, professional, but stiff (shy?) On the next and subsequent visits he has been friendly but still professional , efficient , and kind, I am 81 years old and consider him to be one of the best doctors I've known.

I highly recommend him. I have only had good experiences with him.

Didn't ask for past medical history pertaining to the issue that caused me to make appt. Had his opinion made up without the history and when I told him he got defensive and stood by his diagnosis. He may be correct, but being unfamiliar with me he should have asked more questions and been receptive to the information I was giving him.

Very bad experience with this Doctor. I went to see him for treatment of my Depression and he was completely uninterested in hearing anything about it and stated "there was nothing he could do for me". Very disappointing and perplexing.
