Dr. Chad Duane Abernathey, MD

he works with workmen's compensation and he tells patient one thing but writes completely other things in his dictations. he has to do what they tell him. sold his integrity for money. he does not spend more than 5 min with the patient and he does not listen to patients complaints at all

I have had multiple problems and each time he has given me tremendous help. ALWAYS willing to explain what the issue is and what the plan to correct the problem will be. He WILL NOT do surgery just because YOU think you need it and will only do it if he is extremely confident that he can help you condition. I HIGHLY recommend him!

When I first experienced neck problems which required a neurosurgeon, my research pointed to the best in the Midwest and that was Dr. Abernathey. He has performed 5 different surgeries on me and in each case the outcome was flawless and successful. He does a great job articulating the problem and explains his actions to provide a solution. I would recommend him to anyone who is looking for the best neurosurgeon.

1 minute with this "doctor" he determined I needed I no treatment nor any surgical intervention. He left no time for questions, no explanations, NOTHING! I left there dumbfounded. Poor bedside manor. I felt like I was a cow in a chute waiting to be branded!! I do not recommend this person that doesn't even treat you like a human!!

Dr. Abernathy was extremely patient, kind, and identified issues causing my pain from previous surgery by other Cedar Rapids Neurosurgeon. He validated my pain and referred me to the University to obtain another opinion for accuracy. He is a wonderful doctor and I would recommend him to anyone who wants an extremely knowledgeable doctor.

not a better doctor to work with anywhere. he respects your time and gets to the point. he has done three of the four surgeries I have had and if I had known earlier about him he would have done them all.

Dr. Abernathey performed a laminectomy on L4/L5 and I totally recovered. No more back pain. The patient who complained about Spinal Stenosis...Dr Abernathey did not cause that. That's a seperate diagnosis and there is no surgical procedute to correct that. Many people with back problems have more than one thing going wrong. Some problems can be addressed with surgery, some cannot.
