The Boger Foundation was founded in 2005 to raise awareness and support to help children in the Twin Cities community and beyond achieve accessibility to oral health education and care. The Foundation serves as a channel for the charitable efforts of the Boger Dental Team, the Boger family and the Center for Professional Development located in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Smiles for Life 2011
As members of the prestigious Crown Council Association, each year we join with our colleagues from across the country to raise money for local, national and international kids’ organizations through offering discounted whitening services in our communities. The supplies are generously donated by Discus Dental and each dental office donates their time and the use of their facility. The result is abundant support for many very worthy organizations that provide help for children.
Thanks to the support of our Boger Dental patients and the Twin Cities community, we have raised over $200,000 through …teeth whitening. Boger Dental was recognized in 2010 with a Smiles For Life Achievement Award for being one of the top 20 fundraising offices for the campaign. Half of the funds that are raised each year are given to the Garth Brooks Children’s Foundation and the other half is donated to that year’s designated Boger Foundation partner. Over the past several years, we have been able to contribute more than $100,000 to our long-term local partner, Smile Network International. SNI is a Minnesota-based, humanitarian organization led by Kim Valentini that provides life-altering, reconstructive surgeries and related health care services to impoverished children and young adults in developing countries. Smiles for Life dollars have provided more than 200 life-changing surgeries for these deserving children! This year, we have added a second local partner as a recipient for the accrued funds. We are pleased to support the Twin Cities Area Ronald McDonald Care Mobile program for their service here in our local communities. The Care Mobile is a state-of-the-art vehicle that travels around our eleven county area providing cost-effective, high-quality dental care to under served kids in Minnesota, including individuals under 21 and pregnant women who do not have dental insurance or who are enrolled in a state public assistance program. The Great Candy Trade-In
Each Halloween, after the fun of the festivities, we encourage kids with the message of moderation to pick out their favorite candy treats and then donate the rest. Kids and families from around the community come with goodies to share. For each pound they donate, we pay them a dollar. The booty of candy is then donated to a good cause.
The candy is given to our Foundation partners as a treat to those whom they serve, with a tooth brush and education materials about the importance of daily oral health care. It has been distributed by Smile Network International on their mission trips to Mexico, it has been given to a local homeless shelter as a dessert treat after meals, and it has also been given to the local Ronald McDonald House for their penny campaign.
Toys For Tots
Beginning in 1947 from the conviction of just a single person, the Marine Corps has developed one our nation's signature traditions for sharing goodwill during the holiday season. There’s never been a greater need than now. Today America has over 14 million economically disadvantaged kids, but together we can make a difference!
How Can You Help?
Donate A Toy — Bring new, unwrapped toys to the donation bin at Boger Dental. Toys are especially needed for kids in the 0-2 and 10-14 age groups, preferably in the $10 or above price range.
Write A Check — 100% of the monetary donations will be used to purchase toys for local kids. And we're walking our talk…each member of the Boger Team has individually pledged a donation.
