Dr. Chad Alan Kliger, MD

I required a catherization to establish that I had Pulmonary Hypertension. This procedure does entails a low degree of risk. The Dr discussed this procedure and I agreed to undergo it. I went to the prep room on the day of the procedure and it appeared to me I was being prepped for more then this limed procedure. I asked the nurse who was prepping me about what was going on and he refused to tell me. The Dr's assistant, a young women came in with papers to sign and it became obvious that the cath I agreed to undergo had become a much more involved undertaking. This women started BSing me and it was obvious something was going on that was not in any way discussed or supposed to happen. Dr Kliger then came over and explained he was "asked" to perform an angiogram but no one informed me in advance. The Dr did everything possible to minimize the dangers of this procedure (I believe they went into more then one artery). I wanted to walk out but I required the cath procedure to establish the… Pulmonary Hypertension and it was required to get treated for this life ending disease. The procedure went well, or so I thought. I was not happy laying on the cath table listening to a group of Dr's kidding and joking around and I heard the possibility of Bypass surgery discussed. Today I found out that the cath was not performed correctly and that an important diagnostic test was omitted that should have been done during the cath. Because of this oversight I cannot be given important life extending PH drugs unless I redo the cath. Every MD I deal with at Lenox Hill Hospital is aware of this screw up. ONE STAR IS ONE TOO MANY.

My father had what he thought was a very productive visit with this doctor who said he would do some research and contact my father to make a recommendation about a particular procedure. After that, my father and his wife called the doctor’s office every week to follow up. They could never speak to the doctor himself and instead were given wrong information by one of his assistants. My father has pulled away from this doctor and his office and has given up attempting to communicate or follow up after five weeks of trying.

Dr Kliger is what is sometimes known as a "mensch". From the moment he met my mother her treated her with the utmost respect ,care ,attention, compassion and sincere interest in her, not only as a patient but a person with a life, a history. She felt an immediate calm and confidence being in his care he was there with many small gestures and actions that meant so much to an 86 year old woman..This trust was justified when the unexpected happened during surgery- and as far as i have understood, Dr.Kliger saved my mother's life. Besides his human qualities he is simply a brilliant, talented physician. THANK YOU DR KLIGER and all your team! A grateful daughter

Amazing doctor.. tells it all the way it is and investigates till he has the ans. Will add more after I have my new aortic valve TAVR
