Dr. Chad Matthews, DMD, MS
Dr. Chad Matthews was born and raised in Grand Rapids, Michigan.  He attended Bradley University in Peoria, IL for his undergraduate education, receiving a  Bachelor's of Science in Chemistry.  He received his dental training at The University of Kentucky College of Dentistry, graduating in 2006 as a Doctor of Dental Medicine.  Dr. Matthews then attended The Ohio State University General Practice Residency, receiving a Certificate in 2007.  During this time he cared for many special needs patients and spent a large amount of time in the hospital caring for severely medically compromised patients.  Following this training he was accepted into the Periodontology program at the Ohio State Univeristy, and in 2010 he received his Certificate in Periodontology and Masters of Science in Dentistry.  During this time he underwent extensive training in surgical procedures to correct gum disease, correct recession, and place dental implants.  In the …summer of 2011 Dr. Matthews officially became a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology, a distinction that is limited to approximately one third of all practicing periodontists.
Dr. Matthews was actively involved in research both at The University of Kentucky as well as at The Ohio State University. Â In 2009 Dr. Matthews was selected to participate in the Balint Orban Competition at the annual American Academy of Periodontology meeting in Boston. Â This competition selects the top research projects submitted by periodontal residents across the country, and represents the highest competition a resident can be selected to participate in. Â Dr. Matthews has also presented his research at numerous meetings including the International Association of Dental Researchers. Â His Publications include:
