Dr. Chan S Hwang, MD

VA C&P examiner I was scheduled for an exam with Dr. Hwang on two separate occasions (multiple disability claims). He was very pleasant and engaging. After reviewing his exam notes. He accurately reflected what I reported. I’ve always had past exams rushed. Dr. Hwang took the time to get to know me, my history, even my personal life. When the time came for him to write a professional assessment, all the things we discussed were reflected in that exam report. He seemed eager and willing to view treatment notes I had on my personal computer (one’s that weren’t easy to find on the VA database) and hear my logical theory as to how my time in-service correlated to my current disabilities. While my appointment was through VES, I would seek out Dr. Hwang for my personal care needs as a private provider.

Dr. Hwang was thorough and knowledgeable. He listened carefully to my situation and answered my questions. I would recommend Dr. Hwang for anyone dealing with joint pain.

I called to get an appointment and was told I would have to get a referral to him from another doctor. My medical benefits plan does not require nor pay for me to go to the family doctor for something like persistent numbness in my hand which the family doctor cannot diagnose properly nor treat. What's up with not accepting patients directly who want to see a specialist and can obviously pay for the work? :-(
