Dr. Channavajjala M Prasad, MD

My son just got admitted to Inova Mental Health Center due to his depressions and severe anxiety and we had our first experience with this ever so experienced "On Call, Weekend Doctor" My son has been admitted to Inova after his 3rd a suicide attempt the day he was released from Dominion. He had stayed at Dominion for 4 days. He has been prescribed with 0.5mg of klonopin (sedative) to take twice a day to ease his anxious state when he was released till his dose adjustment kicks in. Dr. Channavajjala M Prasad was the Psychiatrist on Call on A Saturday where he did his rounds and diagnosed my son. My son was a sleep while he entered and woke him up. Without saying much said "you're addicted to klonopin" with no further explanations and just left the room. His words have affected my son greatly since he is already in a very vulnarable mental state with low self esteem and now he started blaming himself for being an addict. My son was only on his 4th day on klonopin. ONLY 4… DAYS!..... Now really! This supposedly "VERY EXPERIENCED" doctor has said to my sons face "you're an addict". He did not consider making any dose adjustments on his Lexapro, did not mention why he was not being given busporon which he was taking before his admission. All he said was you're addicted to klonopin. That was his diagnosis for somebody who has been taking klonopin for 4 days. If Dr. Channavajjala M Prasad wants to clear his name and dignity, he can find out who I am from Inova by asking the staff on Duty and the Administrative Supervisor and Patient relations. I will be placing my complaints to them. It would be more beneficial to Inova Hospital just to say there is no doctor available today than to employ Doctors whom are unable to give their undivided attention to patients in need.
