Dr. Charissa Lewis, MD is a skilled doctor specializing in Family Medicine and Sports Medicine. She currently treats patients in the New Windsor, NY area. Dr. Lewis is at the New Windsor location on Mondays and Thursdays, and at the Newburgh location on Wednesdays.

Originally from Antigua and Barbuda, Dr. Lewis's journey in medicine began at Antigua State College, where she earned her nursing degree and license, and worked as a registered nurse in the NICU at Holberton Hospital for a year. Motivated by a passion for medicine and lifelong learning, she furthered her education at the …Polytechnic Institute of NYU in biomolecular science, but later transferred to the American University of Antigua, where she completed her medical degree. Dr. Lewis completed an additional training program as a graduate fellow in Medical Education at the American University of Antigua before migrating to Brooklyn, New York. She completed her residency in Family Medicine at the Mid-Hudson Family Medicine Residency Program in Kingston, NY, where she honed her skills in family medicine and developed a special interest in sports medicine.

To further her expertise in promoting active lifestyles and treating musculoskeletal conditions, Dr. Lewis completed a Sports Medicine fellowship at the Resurrection Sports Medicine Program in Chicago, Illinois. During her training, she gained extensive experience providing medical coverage for a diverse range of athletic events, teams, and athletes. She served as a team physician for Leyden High School, NCAA Division III North Park University, and the American Hockey League’s Chicago Wolves. Dr. Lewis has also volunteered at large-scale events, such as marathons, half-marathons, and open-water swims, taking on leadership roles to coordinate the efforts of the medical team. Her dedication to athlete health is further demonstrated through her volunteer work with the Special Olympics and by providing mass physicals for high school students.

She is deeply committed to patient education and believes that empowering individuals with knowledge and resources is key to long-term wellness. She considers it a privilege to care for individuals of all ages, treating everything from everyday injuries to sports-related conditions—with the goal of keeping her patients active, healthy, and engaged in the lives they love.

Outside of medicine, she is passionate about fantasy and sci-fi, an anime enthusiast, and an admirer of tiny homes and sustainable living. Whether she is cheering from the sidelines, teaching patients, or exploring new ideas in wellness and sustainability, she brings a spirit of curiosity, care, and community to everything she does.
