Dr. Charles John Billington, MD

I read the ratings here before I went to my appointment and I was concerned to say the least. Dr. Billington was kind and he helped me identify changes in my diet that would work as well as start to identify ways to help me in the meantime as I adjust to the lifestyle changes necessary to control my weight. It takes a while to get in (6 months for my first appointment), but it was worth it.

Dr. Billing saved my life. He is not prompt because he spends a lot of time with patients and truly listens. It is hard to get an appointment because he is in such demand.

Took over three months to get an appointment. Once I arrived I waited for about an hour to actually see the doctor. The doctor spent about 3 minutes with me and basically told me to try using meal replacement shakes. Thanks for the advice that I could have gotten at a GNC. I complained and a nurse called me and she was very nice, but I never heard anything from the doctor except for getting his bill ($300 after insurance). Dr. Billington certainly lives up to his name, maybe I should have looked for someone named Dr. Attentive or Dr. Helpful.

Dr. Billington is extremely pompous. He spends more time attempting to formulate a response instead of listening to his patients. He also attempts to put words into his patients mouths in order to satisfy his own opinion. Although he may be highly knowledgeable and respected by his peers in the field of endocrinology, I would much rather see a doctor who listens and is slightly less knowledgeable. He gets defensive when a patient who is more educated than most questions him and seems to blame the patient when things are not going well. Dr. Billington needs to understand that although the treatment may be correct based on protocol that in the field of Endocrinology things do not always work out as planned, even if the patient is doing everything correctly. He needs to get off his high horse and do a better job of listening to his patients.
