Briefly, I had back surgery in Feb 2017. Doctor Charles Branch removed a spinal sist Previous Surgery to the same (L4-L5) location made this a very delicate situation. I was blessed to find Dr. Charles Branch. Thank you so much. !

I was referred to Dr Branch from a coworker who had seen him. I have one doctor saying surgery, another saying no. I was looking for a tie breaker. Dr Branch denied even an appointment to discuss my issue. He wouldn’t even talk with me to go over any options. Just denied. I had to call his office and was told that his notes only said I was not a candidate for him. Very rude and once again he has proven that most doctors are not good at what they “practice”.

I went to Dr. Branch because I heard that he was very good. I had spent the last 7 months in Wake's pain management clinic with no progress. I had surgery 3 years ago that basically failed. The first thing he asked is "why didn't you go back to the Dr that performed your surgery"? I replied that I had gone back for two years to no avail.Then he went on to say that"he wouldn't have done that particular procedure". He told me that he couldn't guarantee even a 50% improvement with his procedure and his procedure may do no good.He noted that the fact that I smoked about 1/2 pack a day, was likely responsible for the lack of the previous surgery's success: and the likely lack of success of his follow-up procedure. From the time he came in, we felt that he was chastising me for my previous choice of Surgeon (which was a referral): and he had already decided that he didn't want to do anything for my situation because he preferred not to do any procedure which wasn't 100% successful. He… also stated that I was a little overweight and if I wanted him to try his recommended procedure, then I would need to be totally nicotine free and that he would do a prior blood test to verify. He should make it clear by posting a sign in his waiting room, that he doesn't accept patients who smoke or are even slightly overweight. When the appointment was over, he walked out and told us there wasn't any need to checkout or give me any discharge notes, which I thought was now HIPA required.

I only had the1 appt in 2006 with him, but he was beyond kind to me and was extremely knowledgeable. He left a good & large enough of an impression on me that I am now currently waiting to see him again for a new issue.
