Dr. Charles Vance Buckmaster, MD

He was late, inconsiderate and rude. Me mocked me as a woman and my knowledge of Dana Farber. He was unkempt and albeit humid, had a terrible human stench. I was engaged to Dr. James Balducci and he NEVER would have engaged in his staff, patients, et cetera in such a condition; certainly as he oversaw his New York, later Pennsylvania and, finally, Arizona. He taught me to stand up for my rights as a patient. Unfortunately, he passed away. Too bad. Buckmaster could have leared a lot from Jamie.

Waited 6 hours. Appointment was at 1 and I did not leave until after 7. What a joke. i will never return to this quack again!

Dr. Buckmaster has been my GP since he was assigned to me when I was on Medicaid years ago. Yes, the wait times are horrible. If you've got an appointment, plan on spending your day here and bring entertainment. The reason I've stuck around so long and dealt with the wait times (I'm an incredibly impatient person) is because, once he gets in a room with you, he LISTENS and DISCUSSES and gives you as much time as YOU think you need. I believe the people leaving one star reviews are really glossing over how important that is. It should, at the very least, warrant an extra star or two. Most doctors are so eager to get you out of the door you feel like the whole process of the visit took place on a conveyor belt. The downside of him giving you your time to explain everything you think you need to is that it's unpredictable how long your specific visit (along with everyone elses) will take. And if you expect him to sit down and listen to you, you have to be willing to wait as he… gives others the same courtesy. People seem to want both, and it's simply not always possible. Especially if, like Dr. Buckmaster, you have a lot of patients with chronic conditions. Sometimes I don't have much to discuss and my time with him is short. Other times, especially when I have a flare up, I spend more time with him because a LOT can happen with my health between my visits with Dr. Buckmaster. Once I was hospitalized, went to the urgent care twice, and had several tests return abnormal. . .all of that takes time to go over. I think he sat with me for an hour and a half going over what had happened, my test results, and the indications. And I know I'm only one of several patients he has with similar unpredictable, complicated health problems. Which brings me to another thing I like about him- he is very sympathetic, something which is (oddly, considering the profession) lacking in a lot of local doctors. Too many doctors, especially if you have a tough/confusing set of symptoms that require a lot of work for a proper diagnosis, tend to take out their lack of knowledge on you. Dr. Buckmaster listens, researches, and encourages a holistic approach rather than relying solely on treating individual symptoms. He's never been condescending and if something confounds him, he's not above admitting it. But, if there is something he's unsure about, he researches, encourages you to research, and you discuss it together to reach the best solutions/options. No one doctor knows everything, but you'd be hard pressed to find many who will admit it, much less one who is constantly working to expand his/her knowledge when they do run up against something unfamiliar. I've not had insurance for a very long time and, despite that and the frustrations it brings (I can't afford to get all the diagnostic tests I need when I need them and my treatment options are limited), Dr. Buckmaster has remained very supportive and encouraging, which is definitely something those with chronic conditions need. The nurses are also very nice and friendly- I've never had a bad experience with any of them. I have noticed that Dr. Buckmaster is sincerely trying to decrease the wait times. He's got a new nurse practitioner and tries to retain his ability to discuss your issues while attempting to speed things up. It's a difficult balance to maintain, I imagine. He's got a lot of patients with demanding issues and I'm sure he doesn't want them to feel like he's rushing them in and out. But, at the same time, they know the wait time is frustrating and they have to cut down on it as much as possible. Regardless of anyone else's thoughts, I love Dr. Buckmaster and his staff. They all seem like such genuinely good people. I've seen them dole out tough love before, but never unnecessarily or without compassion. I had my doubts when I was first "assigned" to him because I'd been through so many doctors who treated me like it was *my* fault I was sick and they couldn't figure it out. I'm so happy I went through with my first appointment- I've remained his patient even though I've long since stopped using Medicaid and I intend to keep it that way.

I love Dr Buckmaster and his staff. Every time i go to his office Grace makes me feel like family and i feel so comfortable. Sometimes the wait is a bit long but he is very good at what he does and spends just as much time with you. i highly recommend this office best in baldwin county

I would not recommend them. Been here for almost 5 hours. This is unacceptable. Maybe they'll provide dinner. Since I have two hungry teenagers.

Dr Buckmaster is a sincere, caring doctor. If I had cancer I would go to an oncologist... If I had headaches i would go to a neurologist...personally you find a doctor who is caring for your overall well being and offers options. I find his staff most caring! And i can only comment a positive review.

I have never had an issue. The staff has always been careing and welcoming.

Beware of this guy . He mislead me and did me a favor by removing me from his phony practice . I found a real doctor who accurately diagnosed me and fixed the problem in my spine ..Now I'm on a much better path to healing . He has a lousy lieing staff and he himself has issues . Beware people . good riddance ..........
