I had been in chronic pain for almost four years. I woke up one morning in Nov 2015 with my left hip and leg hurting and about two weeks later my lower back joined in. No injury had occurred - I went to bed the night before and woke up the next morning with the problems. Never could find out why it happened this way. In the course of all this time I have seen several wonderful doctors for injections, radio frequency nerve ablation, laminectomy surgery and a chiropractor. Most of those procedures didn't help at all, sometimes I would get a couple weeks relief (to some extent). The lumbar surgery was amazing for about five weeks. One of my doctors had mentioned a spinal cord stimulator implant. I asked him to refer me to someone so he sent me to Dr. Buzzanell. On my first visit I was surprised to be asked for a urine sample but I suppose they get a lot of patients asking for pain medications and they need to know if you are using something. I wasn't - I had been living on LOTS of Tylenol… and ibuprophen all this time (other than the few times I had a surgery or procedure for other problems and was prescribed pain medication). I had several typewritten pages of all the injections & procedures I had all this time because there were too many to remember or list on new patient forms. Met Dr. Buzzanell and I really liked him. He had read my history and discussed it with me. He explained the procedure for the trial implant and then the permanent implant (if the trial worked). I ended up going to Dr. Buzzanell and having the trial implant placed. He was very skilled and it wasn't painful AT ALL which was surprising and I was pretty nervous because usually even a steroid injection hurts. When I went back a week later to have the trial removed, Dr. Buzzanell and a PA both helped remove the bandaging and the electrode lead. No pain then either. Dr. Buzzanell referred me to a surgeon to perform the permanent implant. Dr. Buzzanell is the only doctor in this practice so he can't perform the permanent implants too. A few months later I am talking with the Nevro reps and still doing a little "fine tuning" (they are very supportive also). I am finally starting to see "the light at the end of the tunnel". I had begun to think I was grasping at straws and didn't know if my situation would ever improve. Over the counter meds and the few narcotic pain relievers I had all this time really didn't do much and most doctors don't want to prescribe narcotics anymore because of the opoid crisis which is terrible for patients who truly are having chronic pain. I definitely would go back to Dr. Buzzanell. Like I said, he is very skilled, compassionate and has a sense of humor. I liked him immediately.

I have been a patient at Blue Ridge Pain Management for around ten year. At the point that I had my first appointment I had given up on anyone believing what I was saying was wrong and helping me. From the first moment I met Dr Buzzanell, I knew that I had found a doctor that was listening to what I was saying and cared about what I had been going through for a few years. He has helped me to get back my life, and I often say to people that he saved my life. It is hard to live with chronic pain and have Dr's not believe you or be told there is nothing they can do to help you. However Dr Buzzanell has formed a plan of treatment that I have stuck to and followed and has improved my quality of life and that of my time and attention to my family. You would be hard pressed to find a more caring and nurturing Dr. and staff in Western North Carolina. I am always made to feel welcome in the office when I come in and am seen by not only Dr. Buzzanell but his excellent staff of PA's and… assistants. Thank you Dr. Buzzanell for being so good to all your patients and preforming procedures that have given me a quality of life I would not have without you and your staff.

Dr. Buzzanell treats my husband for chronic pain. First, the administrative staff, both at check-in and check-out are pleasant and helpful. The nurses and PA are very helpful during treatment, and provide clear answers to questions. they are also quick to respond to phone messages. Finally, I cannot say enough about Dr. Buzzanell. He is simply the best doctor I have ever met. The consummate professional, he is also very caring about his patients, and goes over and above to take care of their needs. He also checks in with me to see how I am doing taking care of my husband and if I need any support. Without reservation, I recommend Blue Ridge Pain Management to anyone who needs treatment.

I've been treated a number of places before and after fusions and this practice blew me away by their pleasant demeanors (everyone!) and their desire to listen to my issues and review my history. Dr Buzz is empathetic and has helped me greatly through injections that were only mildly uncomfortable (don't be afraid - his techniques are gentle). There are some reviews here, mostly OLD that describe a place that is not this pain management team, trust me. So happy to have met him and his entire staff!

I’ve been seeing Dr. Buzz since 2013, and have been extremely happy with him and his staff. It’s so nice to see a doctor with such concern for his patients. The staff is great and always so friendly. I’m lucky to have found such a great doctor after moving to North Carolina. Dr. Buzzanell explains procedures while you are going through them as well as making you feel comfortable and not scared. I will forever be thankful I found this practice!

I have been seeing Dr Buzzanell for almost 2 years. I was struck by a texting driver 5 1/2 years ago leaving my mentally and physically disabled. I have receptive and expressive aphasia. Since our first meeting Dr Buzzanell has always shown that he truly cares about my situation. They have greatly reduced my acute and chronic pain. The staff is always friendly and though I'm afraid of Doctors I have no fear going to see him! I recommend his practice to ANYone wanting to lessen their pain. A+

The staff and Dr. Buzzanell are awesome. They work with you to determine your pain and figure out what to do to help. They also work really hard with insurance companies to get prior approval. They are professional and I feel better knowing they are on my side to help with my chronic pain. Knowledgeable and compassionate.
