Dr. Charles Joseph Cattano, MD

I really liked him. Smart as a whip and courteous to boot. I found Mrs. Era just the same. Unfortunately he has left this practice. I won't find a replacement as good as he is.

I have used Dr.Cattano for years,yet have only met him twice. First time,I went to consult and get a second opinion. Didn't see him again for years.I find myself in the ER one night and called his office the next morning to follow up - he squeezed me in that day and did a flex sig. Two years later,I'm in pain and call him and tell him I'm sick,I'm 2 hours away,and my dr.here won't help. He immediately calls in my orders and gets the job taken care of - again,with no office visit and thus no money made on his part. HE IS THE BEST. And I don't know how anyone could call him condescending - he is the most soft spoken,kind person I've ever dealt with.

As the AAMC jingle goes, "this is the doctor you want!" What a terrific doctor and individual. His caring really shows, he is down-to-earth, and he is completely appropriate. There is nothing arrogant or condescending about him. He is Chief of Medicine at our local hospital--I think that says a lot about how other doctors see this one. He doesn't order tests without discussing with you all the possibilities, and he works with you as a partner in your care. He's very popular, and books up weeks in advance, but is well worth the wait!

Dr. Cattano has a pleasant manner, and I'm sure he is good at the procedures he does, but he is very condescending. He seems to make up his mind instantly about what is wrong with you, and tends to attribute any additional concerns to "stress." This was the experience I had, as well as my spouse, and the child of a friend. In two of the three situations, there was an underlying condition that was diagnosed by pathologists after the testing was done. The CRNP in the office, Amanda Era, is the same way. She is condescending, brusque, and annoyed by questions and concerns. She literally started shaking her head "no" about two words into every question I asked, before I could even get my whole sentence out. She seemed to argue with me on principle about tests I asked to have done, telling me that I was "ridiculous." Later in the visit, she ordered the same tests I had asked about because the medication I am on requires them. I won't go back to this office.

I love Dr. Cattano! Not only is he ranked by Annapolis magazine as Top Doc in Gastroenterology, but he deserves the title. He has a way of making you comfortable, putting you at ease, but also feeling good about the care you're getting from him. He takes the time to show he cares, to hear your story, and then he gives you choices in how you want to proceed. I recommend him often, and have always been pleased to hear my friends think as much of him as I do.
