Dr. Charles A. Dackis, MD

this guy had no sensitivity towards me as patient. he never introduced himself and didn't care to check my records before recommending a drug for sleep that made me shake, have chest pains, choking, diarrhea, blood in my stool, and more pain, anxiety, swelling in my legs and a longer stay at the hospital. condition, diagnosis, and should know better than anyone else that

Dr. Dackis is currently helping to clean up the medication mess caused by my former psychiatrist. In the two encounters I've had with him thus far I can say that he is knowledgeable, competent, and mindful of the many factors that must be taken into consideration when prescribing medication. I came into the office with many concerns, but I never needed to raise them because he had already carefully considered everything from side effects, additive potential, my prior history, etc. in selecting a new course of treatment. I have left my appointments feeling that I am under the care of physician who is skilled enough to tailor my treatment to meet my needs, instead of taking a "one size fits all" approach.

I had a similar experience with Dr. Dackis as the previous reviewer. He is smug and condescending. After two visits I stopped seeing him.

I have depression and anxiety and the third time I visited Dr. Dackis office, I explained to his resident that I was feeling better in terms of my depression; that the treatment was working, but I was still struggling with my anxiety related to one project I needed to complete. The resident went to brief Dr. Dackis on our conversation, and when he came the room, he said 'oh, so you are not depressed anymore, huh?' with a smirk on his face. Then we went on a rant on how maybe I should think about quitting on the project and how people are not good at certain things and they should not do them if they struggle so much. He told me that I should find "something else to do" and lot of other very hurtful things about my character. I was such a shock that I sat there not knowing what to respond. I left his office feeling worse about myself and the anxiety got worse too. I have been thinking about the way he talked to me and the terrible things he said, and I feel that people should know this… about him. He might be an award doctor, but I have no respect for him. I think his technique for treating patients, which is being condescending, treating them like they are worthless, and telling them to give up on whatever they struggling with is a horrible approach.
