Dr. Charles C Della Santina, MD

I waited three months to get an appointment with this doctor because of his specialty with balance disorders. I had a stroke in my inner ear 5 years ago and was left with zero balance on my right side. I have constant nausea and dizziness that goes with it. I got to the appointment and waited a very long time only to be seen by his PA. She seemed to dwell on my headaches and migraines which were NOT the reason for my visit. I will admit I have a very complicated medical history including 12 surgeries on my head and neck which started with Chiari Malformation. I also have EDS which contributes to a great many of my problems. I explained to her I was here for my vestibular/balance issues only. After spending about 20 minutes with her I finally met with Dr. Della Santina who similarly concentrated on my headaches migraines and the medication I take for my migraines and headaches. At the end of his “consultation “ he had me follow his finger and touch my finger to my nose and then slap… my hand one side to the other and he actually said “well your cerebellum is fine!” Now I know that the only way to check the status of your brain is through imaging. I was furious that he thought me stupid enough to believe anything he said. Obviously, I will going elsewhere. Shame on him.

In 2004-2005 while on active duty Dr. Della Santina correctly diagnosed and later operated on my SCDS. I believe my surgery was a huge success. His staff, as well as, everyone that I came in contact with was very courteous and professional!

Before visiting Dr. Della Santina, I struggled with recurrent ear infections for almost 3 years, living in constant pain. I saw many different doctors in my area, but they only treated the infections instead of doing anything preventative. I was on so many medications that they stopped working effectively. In one visit, Dr. Della Santina took the time to listen to me and found the issue. He had a great bedside manner, and tried to get my surgery scheduled promptly so that I could get some relief. I felt better right after surgery than I had in two and a half years. I had a fast recovery, and did well for two and a half months. I began having infections/ear pain just before my 3 month check up. When I returned to see Dr. Della Santina, he saw that my ear was not draining properly, and I needed a permanent tube. He attempted to do put it in at the clinic, but couldn't due to the extensive scar tissue. I was scheduled for a second surgery for the tube to be placed, and it went… well. I have no doubt that I would still be dealing with constant infections and living in pain if it weren't for Dr. Della Santina. He is not only a brilliant surgeon, but a caring doctor, as well.

I was disappointed with my meeting with Dr. Della Santilla. He is clearly a brilliant surgeon but I think you are wasting your time unless you are getting surgery. Any sort of consultation is a waste of time. His opinions on Menieres disease were outdated at best. You would could get similar information by simply googling Menieres. Overall...He clearly is a brilliant guy and great surgeon. Don't waste you time if you are looking for information on Menieres.

Dr Della Santina has been a lifesaver in helping my wife to manage her Minieres disease. Not only did he quicky diagnosis her condition but also he has treated her with competence,compassion, and caring beyond comparison. While scheduling an appointment with him is not easy it is well worth the effort and time.

Appointment scheduled 10 months into future. At appointment, waited 2 additional hours. Then very short time spent on a very difficult disease.

A genuine, caring doctor! Exceptional in all areas. Not always easy to get an appt. because he is The Best...but very worth the wait. His assistant is courteous, friendly and knowledgeable.

I called to get an appointment with this Doctor and had to leave a message. A secretary called me two days later. She told me that instead I should see another Doctor in the same Department, even though my problem was within the specialty of this Doctor. I spent about 30 min giving information about myself on the phone, and then they gave me an appointment for 5 weeks later. I decided to see a local specialist in whose office I was treated more promptly and politely.
