Dr. Charles W Hicks, MD

I lived the first 40 years of my life in various degrees of severe crippling anxiety. During that time, dozens of doctors over medicated me with different forms of sedatives. One day my new primary care Dr. said that I needed a doctor to carefully work with me to find medications to help me heal instead of vegetate. She asked Dr. Hicks to help me and since then I have been completely free of disabling panic attacks without the use of "round the clock" sedatives for about 20 years. I only take a carefully regulated anti-depressant and a very mild sedative defore bed. In other words, Dr. Hicks gave me the most precious gift of all. He gave me my life back. I spend every day full of gratitude & happiness. He saved my life.

When I first met dr. Hicks wasn't quite sure about him but he is one of the most intelligent people that I have ever met. He never treated me like I was less than him. I have severe. Bipolar II and host of other illnesses and he has worked with me and my other practitioners wonderfully Even giving me his cellphone number. I understand about his not clearing his voicemail sometimes because he works so hard at St. Joe's and other medical places. I do believe he saved my life. I continue treatment at the hospital with him.

He doesn't empty his voice mail, you can't email him, and he doesn't have a receptionist.

I have been seeing Dr. Hicks for about 15 years. Initially, I was seeing him on a more frequent basis, but now only see him occasionally for med checks. He is unlike any other doctor I have known, and he is one of the most intelligent people I have ever met. If you're looking for a doctor in a suit and tie who talks down to you, this is not the doctor for you. Dr. Hicks is unconventional and not for everyone. But, he truly cares about my well being and he is as much a friend as he is my doctor now. As of now, I understand he is not taking new patients, which is a shame. There's only so much of one man to go around, I suppose and he does a lot of work at the VA with PTSD. He is never about making money and always about what is good and right for the patient. I consider my relationship with Dr. Hicks a privilege and I am grateful to have met him when I needed help years ago.

Wont call my wife back she has been off her meds with bad anxiety and he dpesnt care to even clear his voicemail or return calls on glad I'm home on leave or she wouldnt have any help I think his negligence could really hurt someone very dissapointed I dont know how he even has a practice

Dr. Hicks bases his drug therapy on sound pharmacological principles. His methods are equally sound. Start low, go slow, only change one thing at a time. Check for effect and readjust, and continue. I highly recommend this physician.
