My journey with Dr. Hoops has been a exceptional and I will Ben forever indebted to him. My journey went from death in a few hours, balloon pump, ECMO, LVAD for 5yrs, and finally transplant. I was under the absolute best surgeons care through it all. I trusted him with everything in me that he would go above and beyond, and he has. He’s brilliant and the most highly recommended surgeon. I love you Doc and thanks for all you do.

I cant say enough about this doctor, hes #1 in my book. I was on ecko for 54 days and had to have a double lung transplant in 2015 .This doctor made me feel and trust him like I would my own father. All I can say is if you have a transplant, you should definitely look up this doctor....

I had genetic Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension since birth and was never able to breath normally. All of my care was done through UAB in Birmingham, AL. I was so fortunate and blessed that Dr. Charles Hoopes decided to come to UAB shortly before my bi-lateral lung transplant surgery. Dr. Hoopes is the best doctor that anyone could have if a thoracic transplant is required. He was so involved with my care and took the time everyday to talk to me not once but twice everyday. I would intrust him with any surgery and am indebted to him for saving my life for me and my family. My son has the same genetic disease and when his time comes for a lung transplant, Dr. Hoopes will be the one to do the surgery. I dont care where he is we will make the proper arrangements to have his care for our son. He truly is a wonderful and caring doctor and will be absolutely dedicated to your care, no questions asked. I highly recommend him.

I HAD TO GO ON A EKMO MACHINE BECAUSE I COULD NOT GET ENOUGH OXYGEN ON MY OWN.IF I EVER TRUSTED ANYONE TO DO THIS TRANSPLANT IT WAS THIS MAN.I HAVE HAD MY NEW LUNGS FOR TWO MONTHS AND FEEL WONDERFUL.PLEASE DO NOT HESITATE IF YOU NEED A TRANSPLANT BECAUSE THIS IS THE MAN.ME PERSONALLY I CAN NOT SAY ENOUGH GOOD THINGS ABOUT THIS DR.

Dr. Hoopes is an incredible Surgeon. He performed my heart/dbl lung transplants in 2007 and I will never feel safer than I do when I am under his care.
