Dr. Charles Meredith King, MD

I have gone to Dr. King for seven years. He has always went above and beyond what he had to do. When I first started seeing him I was in a wheelchair and Dr King now has me walking. As far as a weight issue, if you are heavy, yes he will tell you that you need to lose weight. He told me and I did and still working on it. I would rather hear the truth than for him to tell me Im looking like a super model when we both know I dont. I can not imagine seing anyone else for my RA. He is always kind and more than willing to talk about any issues I am having. He is pretty easy on the eyes too. I do not have to have somebody to beg me to exercise,eat right, take my meds, go for my infusions. If that is what you are looking for then no, Dr King is probably not the one for you. Take care of you and he will do all he can on his end. Dr King rocks!!!!!

I’ve never experienced the nastiness this doctor displays to his patients. Very arrogant and does NOT listen. I went to him because he is really the only rheumatologist in the area. That’s why he is so busy. Not because he is a good doctor it’s because we have no other choice in town!!! I will be driving out of town and out of state if need be for my illness from now on. The hospital needs to bring in some compassionate and caring doctors before they lose all there patients because of this jerk.

I’ve been seeing Dr. King for many years. I used to really like him, but he has become rude when I see him. I was recently diagnosed with a disease he’s obviously very ignorant about, and he all but interrogated me when I told him about the diagnosis. “Who told you that!?” “What kind of doctor is he?” Questions like that. He threw them at me so fast that I couldn’t even think to answer them properly. Then toward the end of the visit, he said, “Whether I believe it or not....” I assumed he was referring to the diagnosis. When he walked out, my husband looked at me and said the doctor was a butthole. He didn’t like that I had canceled my last appointment, and I told him I had specifically asked his nurse to tell him I was canceling because I was bedridden. Of course, he said she probably did, blah blah blah. By the way, I called the week before my visit to get a much-needed referral, but he wouldn’t provide one “because I hadn’t been in in so long”. Also, I asked him three or four… years ago to help me get on disability. I had worked and paid into the system for many years, but I had gotten sicker and more fatigued, with no answers. It took me three years to work up the nerve to even tr because of the stigma attached to disability, and I didn’t want him to think I was lazy. Not one of my doctors seemed to care, and they certainly didn’t run proper tests. Dr. King refused and said he had been put into a situation (I don’t remember his word) when he helped a man get on it and the man was later found doing work on the roof of a house, so he no longer helped people. I couldn’t believe this doctor I thought so much of trusted me so little. I went on to receive several diagnoses, one being the very serious disease he questioned me about. And guess what? It’s too late to get disability that I paid into for so many years because doctors like him didn’t listen (or care), and I need it to help treat all these things that are going on in my body.

I was referred to Dr King by my Dr of almost 20 years so I trust him totally. I saw him for the first time and really like him. Fast & accurate is fine with me. I'd rather my Dr be honest even if it's not what I want to hear than to lie so my feelings don't get hurt! Keep up the good work Dr King

My visit with Dr. King was well above excellent. He was extremely kind and caring. He explained my diagnosis and treatment where I could understand it well. I think he is a wonderful doctor and I would highly recommend him to anyone. Also, his staff treated me with kindness and respect.

Dr. King It took 6 months and multiple referrals before he accepted me as a patient. I had to make numerous calls to his office before they finally scheduled my appointment, this was AFTER being accepted. I arrived 30 minutes prior to my appointment time, as instructed. I was very friendly with the receptionist and she was friendly and extremely personable in return. When my name was called to go back, his nurse spent at least an hour on my initial intake. She was very patient and friendly as well. After she left the room, I waited about 30 minutes on Dr. King to come in.  He torpedoed in, before he even took his seat he started telling me what I didn't have. Within 3 minutes of laying eyes on me I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia. After almost 3 years of illness and multiple doctors diagnosing me with Lupus, miraculously he discredited all the testing and time spent on my case by previous doctors. He informed me he was THE BEST rheumatologist in the nation and he treats the majority of… our nations patients with autoimmune disorders. He stated there are very few white women with Lupus. He explained to me he spends more time telling people they don't have Lupus than telling them they do. I found that odd because I have several friends who were diagnosed with this disease. He balked when I told him this. He basically told me the doctors who diagnosed them were wrong, I explained to him they were HIS patients and HE diagnosed them. He scoffed so I began listing names, he curtly stopped me, telling me their cases had nothing to do with mine. He assumed I was a difficult patient because I saw 4 rheumatologists before him. He never gave me the opportunity to explain my regular rheumatologist accepted a position at the VA and now only treated veterans, one was at the Mayo Clinic, I was only there for an initial diagnosis, one was not a rheumatologist and I had no confidence in the fourth.  Obese patients, please don't think you are his targeted audience for abuse, I am 5 ft. tall, weighing 110 lbs. This monster had me in tears within 60 seconds of introduction. I took a friend with me and she witnessed his abuse. She was just as dumbfounded as I was.  I left my appointment feeling like I was assaulted by the self proclaimed "God of Rheumatology." He must be if he can diagnose his patients without even examining them.  Angered by my tears he said "I'm assuming you don't want an appointment to return." Through my tears I said no, not with the way you treated me. He jumped up, condescendingly telling me to take care. Before getting to the door, he spun around and asked why I felt mistreated and what had he done that was so wrong? Unable to speak due to the HUGE lump in my throat, I just shook my head no. As he stormed out he told me to "be well." Again, he used his perfected condescending tone.  If I could "be well" why would I have gone to him in the first place? I received a certified letter from his office three days later informing me my patient status was terminated due to my behavior during my last (and only) visit. I'm interested to know how many patients he has harmed by his flamboyant opinion of himself. If I didn't have prior test results proving my condition, I may have been too embarrassed and ashamed to seek further medical attention. In my opinion, he shouldn't be practicing medicine. He needs to be doing medical research or anything other than working with the public. It took me weeks to get past the anger I felt every time I thought about my time spent in this mans presence. He has to be the cause of more harm than healing.

HE IS VERY RUDE!!! DOES NOT SHOW THAT HE CARES. ACTUALLY TOLD ME TO GET ANOTHER DR. LEFT HIS OFFICE, NEVER TO RETURN

He was extremely rude. He literally said it's not his job to be touchy feely, it's his job to tell it the way it is. It's not what you say it's how you say it. I left his office crying and he didn't care at all. Constantly interrupts you and will not listen.

Dr King is the best doctor I have ever seen and his staff is the best .I trust him .
