Dr. Charles Ivy Lee, MD

DO NOT GO HERE. I saw Dr. Lee for a laser treatment to combat my rosacea. I was told I needed (3) treatments to get the results I wanted. The first laser treatment was fine, minimal redness and swelling as expected. He scheduled my second treatment for 2.5 weeks later (which I found out later from a plastic surgeon it should have been 6 weeks minimum). I go to the appointment and he tells me since I had such good results last time he was going to increase the spot size to get better coverage/results. It immediately felt way too hot but he insured me that it was normal since he had increased the spot size on the laser. Within minutes of him finishing the treatment my face starts to blister. He tells me this should go down after a few hours and to keep ice on it...I get home and my face continues to swell and more blisters form. I call the next morning because at this point I can barely see. The office tells me swelling is normal and it should go down. I go to the office to show them and… they hurry me out of the waiting room and take me to a room. Dr. Lee admits that shouldn't have happened and refunds me the $200 for the treatment. I have to go back there everyday for a week to make them drain the blisters and after that week they never followed up. I was out of work for months and barely left the house. Over the past 2 years I have spent over $4,000 on corrective treatments (from a plastic surgeon), cosmetics and serums to make the scars not so visible. I am left with 3rd degree burn scars on my face from a bad laser treatment that Dr. Lee performed himself. I wish that no one has to go through what I have gone through so please, avoid this place at all costs.

Dr. Lee claims to be the only certified physician in stem cell therapy in Alabama. I know this is false because I am certified in stem cell therapy. He also claims on his website that he obtains 400,000,000 stem cells on bone marrow aspiration. While it is possible to obtain this number of total cells from a healthy donor, the number of actual stem cells would be a fraction of the total based upon the age of the donor. For example, the total proportion of stem cells in bone marrow in a healthy 50 year old, is 1 in 400,000. In a healthy 80 year old the proportion is 1 in 2,000,000 so under optimal conditions (obtaining 400,000,000 total cells) divide 400,000,000 by 400,000 and by 2,000,000. The 50 year old is only getting 1000 stem cells and the 80 year old is only getting 200 stem cells.

Dr Lee and staff are very professional but easy to talk to like family!!

Dr. Lee did my epidural when I delivered my first child at Huntsville Hospital. I would hope that he would be able to do my epidural next time I deliver too! He is a wonderful doctor. I was scared about the epidural for months and he totally put me at ease. I believe he is the best anesthesiologist in town. I trust him 100%!
