Dr. Mess first treated my 97 year old mother-in-law at Howard General when she was admitted after a fall that broke her left upper femur. Since this was during covid-19 and I could not be in the hospital with her, he called me prior to surgery to provide me all the details of her break and what they would be doing. After surgery, he called to let me know how she was doing and then he called me every day to let me know her progress. Once she came home, he called me to check on her progress for several days and answered any questions we had with patience. He came across as genuinely interested in her well being. When she went to his office to get her staples removed, her skin is very thin and sensitive. He and his staff asst showed compassion, gentleness, and humor to help her get through the many staples. I would definitely go to Dr. Mess in the future if I needed an orthopedic doctor!
