Dr. Charles Andrew Mick, MD

Prior to my first appointment with Dr. Mick for seriously debilitating lumbar spine issues and pain, with disintegrated discs, spinal stenosis etc. I had two other very well known “top notch” Spine center evaluations in New England. Both North and South of me. I was given 4-5 injections, had the nerves “burned” twice, over a period of three years. All without any relief. I was directed to other pain clinics and told surgery would be risky and may not help. Disability for me was not what I wanted to hear!! Dr. Charles Mick agreed to see me for a spine evaluation. He was very encouraging, detailed about what tests should be done first,prior to him doing spine surgery. Dr Mick orderedONE test within the hospital...( Cooley D.) He saw with one test result what needed to be done. He approximated 80% recovery with normal spine function. I was in!! When I was admitted for surgery, the anesthesiologist said, “ I’ve never seen anyone so happy to be here!” I was crawling to get going… mornings before walking, the pain was so difficult! I wanted to keep working and live a normal life. ( was 54 at the time.) Surgery was 100%!! He is just so very gifted as a surgeon, and cares about the patients hopes and needs. He is very cautious as well in regards to pain medication. Post op pain was tolerable, and I was called often by his nurse to check on my progress, and pain level! Pain was kept under control without fear of taking too much or too little! No issues with needing extended pain meds. He guides patients with caution and listens well so no fears there either! I am working full time here in Vermont. Living a very full life with ZERO pain. I am 100% after a double spinal fusion with instrumentation. I feel it may be helpful to new patients to hear about how surgery, as well as post surgery years out from when you have it done is going. Dr. Mick has a great bedside manner, is compassionate, and so very skilled. I have given up skiing but if that is the only thing, I count my Blessings for him giving me my life back. I am extremely fortunate and thankful for his expertise!

Be very careful he doesn’t cripple you as he did me 28 yrs ago.

Dr. Charles Mick preformed my spinal fusion surgery almost 20 years ago and it was a great relief and success.

Dr Mick has performed two back surgeries on my back and I would not have it any other way. I trust his decisions and he has the best best bedaide manner of any surgeon I have ever known. He is caring and does not rush you out of the room. You are a person with Dr Mick Not a number. He has helped me tremendously in the past. He is gentle, kind and explains everything so you can fully understand your problem.

Far above and beyond my expectations.

It has been almost three years, post double,lower lumbar spinal fusion surgery. I am 100% pain free! I thank God for Dr. Mick each and every day.

I was in a MV accident, causing head, neck, back and wrist damage. I was a patient of two other doctors before meeting with Dr. Mick.Five spinal surgeries later, my neck is 100% pain free, and my lower back is tolerable, needing nothing more than an Aleve now and then. Dr. Mick is an amazingly gifted, brilliant, kind, skilled orthopedic spine surgeon. I would reccomend him to everyone in need of an accurate spine evaluation and /or spine surgery. He is a great listener, and allows you to ask questions as concerns arrise both pre and post operatively. I had a double spinal fusion surgery last April, and am completely pain free. I feel he "Gave me my life back". Thanks Dr. Mick! Donna Eagan , his nurse on staff is an amazingly helpful, insightful provider/caregiver as well. When you leave the surgical hospital, they are both there for you and answer every question promptly and accurately .I am thankful for the great surgery results and great care throught the whole process!
