Charles L. O'Brien, M.D. received his M.D. from Tulane University Medical School and completed his pediatric residency at Children's Memorial Hospital. Dr. O'Brien joined Dr. Robert Levy in 1980 and has been practicing pediatrics in Deerfield since then. He was one of the founding members of the Children's Community Physicians Association, serving as President from 1998 to 2000. He has been a regular ward attending at North Shore University's Evanston Hospital teaching both Northwestern University and the University of Chicago medical residents and students. He has consistantly been selected as one of the top doctors in Castle Connolly's Chicago Guide to Healthcare Providers. He was honored as one of nine pediatricians in Chicago Magazine's Top Docs in 2008 and again, one of eight pediatricians recognized in Chicago Magazine's Top Docs in 2010. He recently was chosen as one of twelve pediatricians in Chicago Magazines Top Docs in 2012. North Shore Magazine also selected him as one of …their top Pediatricians in 2010. Dr. O'Brien is married and the father of four children. He enjoys tennis, kayaking and travel in his spare time.

Dr. O'Brien is a wonderful doc who has a special gift to relate well to to kids. He is gentle, funny, and most importantly, a great doctor! I recommend him highly. Alan Friedman, dad to a 16 year old son.

Dr. O'Brien has carried for our 4 children for the past 30 years. He has guided them thru all stages of their development with a kind heart and a compassionate ear. He calmed our fears and answered all our questions as young parents, and he became a trusted and guiding force to our children during their teen and young adult years. We are so grateful to have found such a wonderful doctor to help us raise happy healthy children. He now is carrying for our first grandchild! What a gift!

Highly recommend! If you are lucky to be in Dr. O'Brien's practice, it does not make any sense to look for other professionals.

Best doctor. Calm, smart, and friendly. Accurate diagnosis and true concern for his patients. I was sad to have to change to an adult internist, but would recommend Dr. O'Brien to any parent.

Dr. O' Brien has been there for our family. I feel fortunate to have had his guidance and care for my two children. I would recommend him to any family looking for a doctor for their children.

Such a caring and warm doctor! He's been our pediatrician for 27 years...will keep his patients through college and mine are so comfortable will call with their concerns. Well worth any waiting time...

It is worth the wait. Dr. OBrien always takes his time to make sure his patients are comfortable. He makes sure that the kids are aware of their body changing and are prepared to take on a challenge of puberty or any stage of life they are in. Dr. OBrien makes kids happy and parents feel better without rushing to explain any concern that they may have.

Although the care and attention that Dr. O'Brien gives each of his patients is outstanding, he NEVER runs on time. We have never been in his office either for a well visit or a sick visit for less than an hour. Whoever schedules his appointments does not take into account the amount of time he spends with each patient.
