He then directed the Eye Clinic at Mather Air Force Base in Sacramento, California, where he served as a Captain in the US Air Force, and received an Air Force Commendation Medal.

Dr. Ostrov is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and is a member of many medical professional societies including the American Academy of Ophthalmology (www.aao.org), Minnesota Academy of Ophthalmology (www.mneyemd.org), Minnesota Medical Association, and the Twin Cities Medical Society.

Dr. Ostrov is an accomplished author and notable figure in the field of ophthalmology. He began his interest in refractive surgery in 1984, and participated with a group of ophthalmologists at the Philips Eye Institute as a clinical research investigator for the excimer laser from 1989 to 1995. These studies helped contribute to the approval of the Visx laser for clinical use in LASIK surgery. He has also participated in the publication of many articles reporting on a variety of clinical research studies for pharmaceutical companies for which he was a clinical investigator.

Dr. Ostrov has had an interest in medicine since elementary school and continues to enjoy the rewarding specialty of ophthalmology, especially spending time with patients and staff. With his more flexible schedule now, he is able to spend more time with his wife, Margie, and travel to see his 6 grandchildren. He also enjoys the outdoors, fishing, digital photography and video, and warmer weather in Florida.
