Dr. Charles Hughes Penn, MD

Dr. Penn is an amazing surgeon. I worked with him for 6 years (2004-2010) and he absolutely performed to the highest quality. I would definitely go to him if I needed surgery and have recommended him (with fantastic results) to friends and family. I have seen how he performs on hundreds of procedures and would absolutely recommend him.

Dr Penn removed half of my thyroid a few days ago. I was a little worried after reading the reviews here. I have to tell you, he did a great job! My incision is healing well, I had little pain and no bruising! He even made me laugh before surgery because I looked and was terrified :)So far I'm pleased with his work. And while in the pre-op, I only heard good things about him from his colleagues. They all respect him at Winn.

Penn is not a good surgeon, just the best that they havbe at that little army hospital. He has been reprimanded for his violent behavior towards patients and staff multiple times. But hey, this the kind of surgeon you get with socialized medicine.

Dr. Penn removed my gallbladder through a procedure called SILLS. It only involved one entry site through my belly button. The outcome was excellent and I barely have any scar at all. He is extremely efficient, knowledgeable, caring and most importantly and excellent and technically proficient surgeon.

What a creep! It took me 4 yrs to get the Amry to send me to a "breast specialist" and the creep told me that I had nothing wrong (despite clear, yellow, green and sometimes black breast discharge since 2006). Dr Penn belittled me and told me that i was just not dealing with all of these deployments my husband was going through very well. I aksed him if he was diagnosing my head or my breast...he said he was the "breast expert" and with nothing wrong I need to get my head checked out! My rating is 0 on all, but this site won't let me go that low! Don't go to him! I am now awaiting results of mamos and ultrasounds I had to seek off post.BTW my off post doctor is VERY concerned! I wanted to turn him in to the OIC but he was the "acting OIC" at the time. How that duty was given to a civilian is beyond me.
