Dr. Charles A. Popkin, MD

I would not recommend Dr. Popkin. He is always rushed and never gives the proper time or information during appointments.. He did my daughter's ACL surgery in 2018. He neglected to tell us prior to the surgery that he was leaving to attend to a hockey team traveling in Europe directly after my daughter's surgery and would not be there for any of the follow-up visits which needed to be with his PT. Due to this it was missed that her knee was not bending properly and when he finally returned 3 month later he sent her back in for a second surgery. Now, 3 years later her knee is frequently in pain and swollen

Dr. Popkin is the best doctor out there. I used to have so many problems with my knees and went to many different doctors and I did therapy for so long and nothing helped. I even got surgery and it didn’t help. But my mom found doctor popkin and on my first appointment he knew right away what was wrong. He did 2 surgeries on both my knees and ever since I haven’t had any problems. I just want to thank him so much for not wasting any more of my time like others did and for making me not have any pain . He’s the best

Dr. Popkin is my favorite doctor. Ever! He has a heart. Not only was he empathetic to my son's knee injury, he interacted so well with all of us. He assured us everything would be ok in a humble, caring, heartfelt way. I felt as though he was treating my son as if he was his own. His bedside manner is amazing! Dr. Popkin is an absolutely amazing surgeon, but even a better person. He helps young athletes believe they will get better and compete again. After, a pretty devastating football injury, my son can say, "Because of you...I didn't have to give up." Dr. Popkin has great people skills and relates well to youth. My son has learned little by little, day by day what was meant for him. My son's knee is feeling great and he is happy back on a Lacrosse field. As parents, we cannot thank him enough! He was attentive, patient and confident in his operating skills.He gave us his # after surgery, in case we needed to call him. We never felt rushed with Dr. Popkin-he has… this wonderful Midwest nature about him. We are lucky we found him!

Dr Popkin has treated all 4 of our children who are athletes with world class care. Shoulders, ankles, wrists, knees and soft tissue injuries. All treated superbly. Dr Popkin guided our 15 year old son through a frightening knee fracture getting him back on the field fully recovered and healthy in 4 months. Our youngest daughter suffered a torn ACL last year playing lacrosse which was surgically reconstructed by Dr Popkin via a Pateller Graft procedure @ Morgan Stanley Children's Hospital. Dr Popkin is a gem. He is wonderfully talented Dr/surgeon who is bright, professional, caring, thoughtful, responsive and thorough. Our family has been blessed with his care as a trusted doctor whom we recommend any chance we get. Dr Popkin has been there every step of the way for our daughter from diagnosis to surgery and throughout rehab. She is scheduled to return to sports in a few days 8 1/2 months post surgery. Alex looks and feels great. Her knee has healed amazingly well and she has… reported NO issues whatsoever. All a credit to Dr Popkin's surgical prowess along with his pre and post surgery comprehensive rehab program and care which focused not only on the surgically repaired area though also on both legs and complete body rehab and conditioning which was executed flawlessly by NY Presbyterian rehab in Eastchester -headed by Siobhan and Jen and the great team there. Dr. Popkin's staff is excellent as well. Specifically Danielle Annis as his physicians asst has treated our family with a warm and caring demeanor while being super responsive and professional for all our needs. William Campos the office coordinator scheduled Alex's surgery seamlessly and has always been there for our family whenever needed. Dr. Charles Popkin is a genuinely caring, compassionate and GENIUS SURGEON. Anyone considering having surgery with him could not be in better hands. Before I met him, I had multi-ligament damage in my left knee. My case was complex and intimidating to other surgeons. It was Dr. Charles Popkin who had the expertise and confidence to take my case. He was professional and polite from the first second I met him. I told him that I did not have the best insurance. His response was that it didn't matter because he became a doctor to help people. The day of my surgery Dr. Popkin was punctual and confident. I had not one doubt in my mind of his capabilities. He was also right there with his professional team when I awoke to tell me the surgery was successful! I was so happy and relieved it was over!!! Since then I have been healing at an unusually incredibly rapid pace. I feel GREAT!!! This is another sign that his surgical performance was meticulous and excellent! What I also… appreciate about him is that when I call his office and leave him a message- HE actually calls me back -not his secretaries.
