Dr. Charles Kay Raker, MD

He is the most sadistic doctor that ever walked the face of this earth. He loves slicing people up without the benefit of pain medication.

I have never had a worse encounter with a Doctor than I did with this Dr Raker. Radiologists aren't know for their bedside manner but most at least introduce themselves. Dr Raker walked in the room and just looked at the ultrasound machine, not me. I was positioned on my side and he stood behind me. He didn't review my medical history or inquire why I was there. He was disinterested in why my Doctors had sent me for this fine needle biopsy or the various areas of concern. When I requested he use a 23 guage needle or less as instructed by my ENT, he made light of that and repeated it several times. But the worst part was when he just jabbed the needle into my neck without any warning and without anesthesia. This it the fifth time I have had this procedure done and a local anesthetic was always given. After 3 more attempts then under local anesthesia it was still very painful. In the end he didn't even get sufficient cells for a diagnosis. I couldn't stand to have him try again. My… entire experience at Long Beach Memorial was disappointing. It seemed like a lot of burned out professionals just dialing it in. And I am a medical professional employed by the Memorial Care System so to access my chart they have to break the glass. Typically people treat you a bit better when this occurs so I can only imagine how this is for other people. Steer clear of this radiology department, or at least this Doctor.
