Dr. Matt Sloan, MD

I have been a patient of Dr. Sloan’s for just over 16 years and have followed him through his previous association with Pain Net Pain Management and his current private practice. Dr. Sloan provides such personalized care that even though he maintains the utmost professionalism in our visits he makes me feel like a friend as well as a patient. Dr. Sloan is not only a highly professional and competent doctor he is also an extremely caring, approachable not to mention humorous individual with whom I am greatly blessed to be a patient of. My chronic pain started out with shoulder impingement syndrome that had resulted from an over-growth of the acromial on my left shoulder. Prior to seeing Dr.Sloan, I had an acromioplasty on that shoulder which resulted in chronic pain due to nerve damage in that region. Dr. Sloan has been most compassionate and has utilized multiple modalities in treating this pain and subsequent pain I have encountered through the past 16 years. In 2012 I… suffered an acute case of Shingles, (herpes zoster) disease that occurred on my upper back or posterior lateral region. This produced nerve pain extending from my left scapula to the medial region T5-T6 of my back. The pain also extended laterally around to the left distal region of my humerus stopping at the elbow joint. The Shingles case was extensive and produced a more permanent complication of Shingles known as PHN or Postherpetic neuralgia. This has resulted in the pain from Shingles being a never-ending issue. Dr. Sloan has successfully treated this pain as well via pain and nerve medications and a surgical implant that produces nerve stimulation. This has tremendously reduced the level of pain I have dealt with since 2012. I was at the point of filing for permanent disability due to the level of pain. Since the implant procedure was completed successfully by Dr. Sloan my pain as previously stated was greatly reduced allowing me to continue to be an active part of society and am still working to this day. Without Dr. Sloan’s care, I would be on disability and in a tremendous amount of pain. I highly recommend Dr. Sloan to anyone suffering from any type of pain regardless of its origin or cause such as Joint, Nerve-( PHN, Fibromyalgia, Sciatic ) Arthritic, Cancer, or any other pain you may have. His office staff is the best group of caring and professional ladies and gentlemen I have encountered at any physician’s office. I have been going to Dr Sloan for 2 and half yrs.. He is very attentive and caring for my needs when it comes to my pain. He is very strict when it comes to taking and getting pain meds, that's a good thing. His staff is very friendly and easy to talk to. Dr. Sloan has a very good bedside manner and is very professional. He now does injections in his office, which makes it very convenient for me. I absolutely adore his nurse Nichole, she its very easy to talk to and she makes sure that if u have any problems that they get fixed pronto. I absolutely enjoy my visors to the office just because of the atmosphere.

I have been a patient of Dr. Sloan;s since 1998. Positives: He's not afraid to prescribe medication when it's needed, I appreciate the fact that he makes his patients sign a contract and follow rules when it comes to certain medications, he's always current regarding changes in the field of pain management, he's always very careful about drug interactions, and he's extremely funny! I also really like his nurse/assistant Ashley. Cons: since I've been seeing him he's moved his office like 6 times (I hope he stays where hes at because its been the best of all of them, I miss the way he did some things when he was part of Painet such as doing procedures in the office and charging alot more for the procedures and then accepting what the insurance paid as payment in full. I also wish his office would call the day before to confirm appts, sometimes its hard to get a person on the phone and phone calls arent always returned. Finally I wish the lab that does his random drug testing was… in-network for my insurance company.But I like him so much that I'm willing to live with the "cons".
