Dr. Charles Reginald Watts, MD

Discharged and told to get an urgent visit within one week. Called daily for one week. Would not schedule until paperwork was complete. Ended up they refuse to schedule appointment until other hoops are jumped (which have already been done). Frustrating that hospital discharge notes and discussions differed from actual results. It’s been three weeks of agonizing pain; had to be seen elsewhere. With same conclusion, need to see a neurosurgeon.

First visit with him he looked at my MRI and said surgery could be done for herniated discs in my neck causing chronic pain. He ordered a second MRI and I was to have a follow up. The day before the follow up his nurse calls me and says the MRI didn’t show what he thought and ordered an EMG. I asked more about the procedure and the nurse couldn’t explain it to me. After EMG was done, same nurse calls me back and says both MRI and EMG are normal and surgery can’t be done. I asked to keep my scheduled follow up with the doctor and nurse said “He’s not going to change his mind. “ I went and got a second opinion from another doctor and surgery is scheduled. I was disappointed the doctor couldn’t meet with me and explain all of this so I could better understand. Would not recommend. Dismissive for sure.

Before visiting Dr. Watts, I had been diagnosed with a number of birth defects in my spinal cord after MRI, and had been in pain for many years. Dr. Watts flatly contradicted the radiologists analysis. He never let me complete a sentence without interrupting with a dismissive comment and basically treated me like a whining hypochondriac while ignoring the radiologists report on the MRIs. I never asked for any pain medication; I have fibromyalgia and it doesn't work for me. i simply wanted to understand my pain and wanted to maintain some function in my arms and hands. Dr Watts is a very abusive man and if you must see him, take a witness, preferably a man. He may hesitate to treat you poorly if you have a witness. Better yet, don't even bother. Find someone who knows how to act like a human being, not an angry little demi god

Removed a cyst from my spine.

Dr Watts performed brain surgery on my mother. In the initial consultation Dr Watts presented the facts in an easy to understand way. He is extremely patient and answered all concerns. I highly recommend this man and trust in him.

He came highly recommended from my primary Doctor Who I trusted and still do trust. Went to see him for consultation was great, but when it came time to meet him for surgery it pretty much was your fat, lose weight and you won't have back problems. Like to say that this was a one time statement but my sister also want to see him as well and he told her the exact same thing. During surgery he nicked my spinal sack so I was rewarded with three extra days in the hospital laying flat on my back and a year and a half of constant migraines. now the scar tissue that was to be filling in where he removed a lot of my disc is also strangling my sciatic nerve which causes more pain. Absolutely no bedside manner and he is always in a rush. I personally believe he prefers to check on you when you are knocked out on drugs and sleeping just to say that he stop by but didn't have to really deal with you. I now have to have another surgery in the same location and I will not go back This doctor nor… will I recommend anybody else to see him.

Dr. Watts saved my life when he performed emergency brain surgery on me in 2009 for a ruptured abscess. A few years later he did surgery on my cervical spine which left me with permanent numbness and pain in my right arm and hand.

He was straight forward to the point.Didnt dig to deep into the personal life. just wanted to do the surgery. he explained how it worked and what he would do. But after the surgery I still have pain I think we did the wrong procedure. After the Surgery his staff did not follow up with me. I did not recieve an appointment to go back and see him. When I called to schedule a follow up I waited 20 min on hold only to be told his next appointment was 4 months out... Over all he is good at being straight to the point and brutally honest.

Probably the most arrogant self centered Dr I have ever seen. He is a very good surgeon ,but has no bedside manner at all. If your fat then now you know why you may have back problems. I may have nothing to do with the fact that I injured it at work lifting 100lbs boxes it is all because i'm fat, and if I lost weight then POOF the pain would be gone.Too bad such an intelligent man can't realize that his patients are human.

Not a favorable impression. He was late to 2 appointments. When we did discuss my condition I did not feel comfortable with his plan of action. I did not feel he had a clear and concise plan of action. I got a scond opinion and chose a different surgeon.
