Dr. Charles Stuart Weiss, MD

Dr. Weiss was extremely thorough, attentive and empathetic about a painful neck injury I sustained in an automobile accident. He proposed a care plan that I thought was appropriate and helpful. I would highly recommend him.

I went to see Dr. Weiss in Urgent Care. Even after the conclusion of my breastfeeding journey, my breasts still leaked droplets of milk for over a year after. I have also had milk duct thrush both during breastfeeding journey and after. I explained that to Dr. Weiss, and told him I had this before I needed simple prescription of anti-fungal medication Fluconazole. He told me, no it's not possible, then it would have been on the surface, not inside. I assured him, no it felt exactly as this before, and before the doctor didn't even need to examine me, just look inside of baby's mouth for white spots to see yeast infection in him, and prescribe anti-fungal for both baby and mother (me). Now that baby wasn't breastfeeding, I still occasionally had exact same symptoms. I knew what it felt like, and just was asking for simple anti-fungal. Instead he persisted to intrusive physical exam, palpating both breast, and obviously seeing physical discomfort of breasts that were full of thrush (I… just started at a new company and was trying not to take time off to visit doctor, thus UC on a Saturday). And unlike vaginal yeast infection, which can also be treated topically, you can't buy anything over the counter to insert islnside milk ducts, thus I needed a prescription. He said, no it's not possible. I pleaded with him, well even if he doesn't believe me (which is also absurd), I wasn't seeking some pain killers or narcotics or something dangerous. All I wanted was simple anti-fungal. A medicine easily prescribed even by a dentist who also prescribes antibiotics, an anti-fungal that works preventitavely to not develop yeast infections. Instead he gave me referral to get checked for breast cancer, which was only open on Monday. The visit left me in tears. From such condescending treatment of completely ignoring patient's words. Ignored. Untreated. I called up Teledoc, paid out of pocket. Gave as little details as possible, requested Fluconazole, filled prescription that day. By Monday, I was feeling completely fine! Because, as I knew from my previous experience it was breast thrush. Two weeks later I finally got an appointment with my regular OBGYN. He confirmed, that yes, I was not "crazy", breasts can leak up to 2 years of milk post breastfeeding, and yes, not all breast thrush is on the surface. If the Fluc helped, it was thrush. If medical society claims to be all pro mother child bonding and pro breast feeding, maybe they should educated their doctors to treat mother's properly for the conditions they could commonly develop. That some manifest differently than others. At the very least, don't be so dismissive when a woman and a mother tells you she had this before, she knows her body. We don't need doctors who refused to acknowledge woman's experience of her own body. Too dismissive. Too rude. Too not keeping with latest research.

Dr. Weiss was extremely thorough in his evaluation for severe lower abdominal pain. He listened carefully and took a detailed history of the current complaints and past history. He ordered lab tests and then compared them to prior results, which turned out to be very important in diagnosis. He then explained the diagnosis and treatment plan, and made sure of a follow up appointment in two days. The pain, and worry about the pain, were relieved. Dr. Weiss is a very experienced and thorough physician. I recommend him highly.
