Dr. Charles Edwin Whitney, MD

He didn't see me before I got xray not even an rn. The paperwork staff are OK the Rn was on point felt bad she has to work for such a bad doctor. He came in and proceed to snatch the pencile out my daughters (2 years old)hand and go on about how she shouldn't have it I gave it right back to her in front of him. I stayed calm and didn't say anything of it. He didn't introduce him self and didn't ask for my symptoms just TLD me there was no brake or fracture in my wrist. I told him I had shooting pain and numbness. He said that should go away its just bruised. And told the rn to wrap me up and ibuprofen and walked out. Didn't ask if I had more questions or a bye. My bp was high do to pain and high heartbeat. He didn't know that. Im going to my PCP tomorrow to follow up but as a nurse myself which he didn't know of, I understand the rush in a hospital setting but to not even know ask or know your patients symptoms is just foul pla . I will be reporting him to his hospital board as… well. I recommend never to be seen by him.

I had to go to the ED at Sharp Coronado because of right flank pain. This, to me, meant yet another of the dozens of kidney stones I have had to endure during my lifetime. Dr. Whitney was my assigned physician. I was given pain meds, gave a urine sample and sent for a CT scan. Dr. Whitney returned a bit later and told my husband and me that there was no blood detected in my urine and the CT scan showed no kidney stone. I tried to tell him I have read extensively on literature about stones that fail to show up on scans (opaque stones), but he simply asked to speak to my husband alone for a minute. He was concerned that I was suicidal (?!?). I was crying because I had just had two surgeries four months ago to remove three large stones and was worried that I was looking at another surgery. Meanwhile, Dr. Whitney wanted to commit me to a psychiatric ward. But it gets better. The next day, I saw my Internist. She also asked for a urine sample and called Sharp Coronado hospital to get the… results of the CT scan and urine test there as is protocol. I had blood in my urine today. In addition, Dr. Whitney lied to my face when he told me I did not have any blood in my urine at the hospital. The most interesting part is the CT scan showed i have a 3-4mm stone on my right side. I have called the patient advocacy department of the hospital and have already filed a complaint. Oh, did I mention he got his MD in Guadalajara and only speaks English? Interesting.
