Dr. Charlie Chang

I would not recommend seeking medical care here. The staff is terrible. I waited almost TWO hours in the waiting room because the staff "never verified my insurance" which was provided to them when I made the appointment on the phone. I would really recommend seeking medical care elsewhere. There are other great doctors out there.

The most caring and best doctor that I see. I am in the medical field and know many physicians. This is a quality doctor that actually listens and cares. Every doctor that he has suggested for me has been a quality physician. I would only wish to clone him he is that good.

Worst doctor and staff I have been too. I could never get a call back from the doctor to get my medication. I had to go by the office twice so I could talk to someone. They don't answer the phone or return calls. The nurse told me she was busy training and did not have time to return calls. Doctor did not take my sugar level or check my feet. I had to ask for a Quest paper work for my next visit because he was in rush to see next patient. I will not return. Changed to a new doctor so I get medication.

Dr. Chang is awesome Dr. He was the only Dr. that could get my husband’s Sugar down. Love him and the office staff. Very friendly.

From the time you check in to the time you leave the staff is very nice and accommodating. Dr. Chang has a very calming manner. He does not rush you and he listens and ask questions to be more precise to meet your needs.

Dr. Chang is great! He takes the time to chat with you and listen to your needs. But Clear Lake Specialties receptionists are VERY unprofessional and rude! The woman with the braids and the tattoo on her hand rolled her eyes at me when I had asked her to correct my insurance information, which I noticed after I paid. She was very short with me, and did not seem very caring towards the other patients at the office. The lady with the braces is a bit nicer, but she had also snapped at me for asking which clip board to sign, since they were so scattered on the counter. When I was getting my blood drawn, the lady with braces ripped open the curtain and started asking me how I got back there, mind you while the needle is in my arm and Jessica, the Phlebotomist is taking my blood. She had just seen me at the front desk, asking about my insurance. Complete disregard to patient privacy. I felt unwelcome and treated very unprofessionally during my visit. Its a shame that Dr. Chang is… such a great Doctor, but I will not continue to be treated like crap! I hope they can get some nicer people back there. New Endocrinologist search begins!!!

Really!! It's a 2 month wait to see this doctor if you're a new patient. That will NOT help me in ANY WAY!!! He was highly recommended by a med center doctor. Thanks for caring, not! Glad I don't have like some failing heart issue, but again Diabetes can cause that. If you're there for your first visit you may want to rethink going there. Read the reviews, I should have!!!

Dr. Chang's office is very hard to reach to make appointments. I had to call several times before I actually got a person on the line. Sometimes, even the automated message is busy. Once, I got so frustrated I drove to the office to make the appointment (rather than make the appointment over the phone). Dr. Chang is friendly and tries to keep up with the latest information, however, he requires office visits and lab work every three months for patients with diabetes, even when it is impossible for the patient to take that much time off work. If you cannot make commit to office visits and labe work every three months, he will refuse to write prescriptions for necessary diabetic supplies. Also, the lab work is not done in-house, but at another location. This is not only time-consuming and inconvenient, but it is duplicate lab work that will drive your insurance company crazy. He also has a bad habit of walking out of the room when the patient is in the middle of a question.

I waited months for my appointment. He requested lab work and other tests and I had to wait weeks and weeks for results. After about three weeks or so, I kept calling the office only to find the phones turned off constantly. When they were in the office, the phones would still be on the answering service two hours after they'd returned from lunch. The woman that handles the test results seems to decide who does and doesn't get their results and is condescending and rude. Ultimately, I was told to come in and pick up my results and read them myself if I wanted them. Otherwise it would be a minimum of 3-6 more weeks for results. His office had my results the day after one test and two weeks after the blood work. I will be looking for another doctor. He may be fine, but he's only as good as his staff.
