If I could give zero stars, I would. Nurse Charlotte Byrd, who works in palliative care at Mitchell Cancer Institute, is an absolute disgrace to her profession. She is dishonest, cold, and completely unfit to work with terminally ill patients. I came to her during one of the most vulnerable times of my life, battling stage 4 cancer. Instead of compassion, I was met with lies, avoidance, and outright negligence. She deliberately gave me false information and dismissed my care needs multiple times — not just once. She’s not only untrustworthy, she’s dangerous. Palliative care is supposed to be about improving quality of life. Charlotte Byrd made mine worse. She lied to get out of doing her job, left me without support, and treated me as a burden, not a human being. Her behavior is not only unethical — it borders on medical malpractice. No one in her condition should have to endure her attitude, her deception, or her refusal to fulfill basic responsibilities. I do not feel safe around… her and I fear for any other patient under her care. I have reported her to hospital administration and am filing a formal complaint with the Alabama Board of Nursing. I strongly urge Mitchell Cancer Institute to remove her from their staff immediately. No patient—especially someone in palliative care—should be treated like this. She should be fired. Immediately.
