Dr. Charmaine E Edwards, MD

My PCP referred me to Dr. Edwards after my Cologuard test came back positive. I've done FIT tests before which always came back negative. Dr. Edwards did a good job of explaining the difference between the two types of tests. I had a colonoscopy done by her two weeks later and sure enough, a polyp was found in my colon! It was removed and sent to the lab for a biopsy. To be thorough, she also did an endoscopy while I was "out" to make sure everything was okay "topside", too. Her bedside manner may seem a little brusque, but it's more important to have a good doctor than a new best buddy. My husband also had Dr. Edwards for treatment of his GERD and was satisfied with the treatment he received as well. :-)

My primary care physician recommend I see Dr. Edwards due to severe stomach pain. I have already been diagnosed with GERD, and have been prescribed medication for it. However I am still having severe stomach pain. Dr. Edwards took one look at me, and bluntly told me that my pain was due to me being obese, and that I needed weight loss surgery. She said there was nothing she could do for me until I had weight loss surgery because that was what was causing all of my pain. She apparently believes herself to be such an amazing doctor that she can tell without examining a patient & just by looking at them that they have nothing wrong with them besides obesity even when they are in horrible pain. After being throughly insulted and leaving with even more questions than I had when I walked in I got home & received an email about the visit I had today where I received an upper endoscopy. I will be calling her office as well as my insurance company first thing tomorrow morning, because the… only thing shoved down my throat today was my weight issue. An issue in which my primary does not believe I should have surgery for.

She didn't address any of my GI issues. she went on about my premature menopause(I was 27) and how my husband would leave me soon unless I got that help. There was supposedly nothing wrong with my digestive track.

worse doctor I have ever had does not care about patients does not explain diagnosis and I felt like she considered herself better than others

There are no words to describe my disappointment in the care I received. Suffice it to say that I had to switch doctors when I ended up in the emergency room. I spent the next 6 months being told they didn't understand the care I (didn't) receive from her. She is personally very nice, but she was apparently very distracted- with created problems for me.

I cannot even move beyond the rude abrupt horrible demeanor of the person answering the phone. NO, ZERO customer skills. Sadly, I won't be seeing this doctor based on her office personnel.

I should have known there was something wrong when I got an appointment for the very next day. She and her staff are rude and inappropriate.
