Dr. Dongchau Nguyen, MD

I was very nervous upon my arrival because of my health issues. I had never been to a cardiologist before. I desperately sought information about a potentially life treating condition. But when I left there, I felt like he wasn't interested or didn't care. I left feeling more anxious because he didn't explain anything in detail about my condition. My office visit was very short.

Very knowledgeable and kind doctor.

Dr. Nguyen is by far the best cardiologist. He is knowlegeable. Unlike other physician, he actually spent time to explain my conditions. I feel comfortable asking him and questioning my treatments. This is the best cardiologist I have ever been to.

The first time I met Dr. Nguyen was at the E. R. He did not introduce himself so I didn't know if he was a doctor or a nurse. I was at the E.R. because of a heart attack. I believe he understands his field of expertise and his ability to treat patients. My problem is during my follow up appointments. During the very brief examination, Dr. Nguyen checked my heart for about two seconds with his stethoscope . I would think a doctor would need to listen to a patients heart rhythm longer than two seconds? I also have a hard time communicating with him. He would tell me that I need to document my daily blood pressure and bring it with me during my office visit after the fact. If that is what Dr. Nguyen wanted he should have told me. I have never had a doctor make me fell like he wasn't really providing any medical service. I am anticipating changing doctors. Sincerely, Perturbed Patient

Do not be fooled by this man. At first meeting, he seems very personable. He uses light-hearted humor to ease his patients. Everything seems to be going well until you have the mind to ask questions when you're feeling doubtful. Dr. Nguyen then turns into a completely different person. He becomes insulted that anyone would question anything he has to say and would then begin yelling at you. He will then proceed to speak down to you and belittle you just because you may have some questions concerning yourself that you're feeling unsure of. Believing that he may POSSIBLY be having a bad day, I returned and had the same experience as before. I spoke to other people who I later found out have seen Dr. Nguyen and they all said he had elicited the same behavior BEFORE I had a chance to tell them about my experience. Needless to say, I am searching for a new cardiologist. I am sure there are many other cardiologists in the city of Houston who are capable of diagnosing and treating… my condition with far better bedside manners.
