Dr. Chelsea Patricia Accardo, DDS

Accardo did half of my root canal, refused to finish, left me in pain and didn't care. Another reviewer had the same exact problem, she has done this before in the past. Seems to be a common practice with her. She takes our insurance money and barely does any work. They double charged me and took a month to refund me, took a week to return my call on 2 separate occassions and lied to me over and over. She doesn't know how to use nitrous oxide and over charges dramatically for it. Wayyyy higher than anywhere else. I went to a new endodontist who finished the root canal and had 0 problems. He laughed at what she did to me. I showed Accardo my infected gums and she shrugged it off. I show the new endodontist and he gives me an antibiotic. Here's the whole story. I went in and she did an x-ray and determined I needed a root canal. I explained how I have a really bad gag reflex and need nitrous oxide and I would be fine. I have had lots of dental work done and never gagged once with… nitrous oxide. I felt nothing at all with the nitrous oxide she was giving me, we got halfway through the procedure before I started gagging. She stopped the procedure and said we can continue in a couple days. I come back for my 2nd visit and she has a bright idea to numb both sides of my mouth, the top of my mouth and kept giving me stick after stick after stick with oral gel. My mouth was so numb I could barely speak. I quickly vomitted and was only getting nitrous oxide for a few minutes. She then tells me she can do nothing for me and I should go to this place that can put me under to do the operation and it will cost $1,000 just to put me under plus the charge for the root canal. Then she proceeds to charge me $160 nitrous oxide after I only had it for a few minutes and felt nothing. On top of that, they double charged me!!! I called the office on a Tuesday when I found out about the double charge. I was told they only see one charge and they would call me back the next day after somebody looks into it. Wednesday comes and no call. I call back on Thursday and the person I need to speak to is with a patient and she will call me back. Rest of Thursday goes by with no call and all day Friday until they are closing at 4:30. She tells me they are putting a check in the mail with my refund for the double charge. I didn't receive it until a month later! During this call I said how I want to finish the procedure since I already paid them a lot of money and they received money from my insurance. She tells me I will call you back on Monday after speaking with Accardo. Monday goes by with no call. Tuesday I call back and that person isn't working today and will call me back the next day. Wednesday goes by without a return call. I call back on Thursday and same thing that she's helping a patient and will return my call. Never got a return call. I call back on Friday and she's on her lunch break and will call me right back. The day ends with no call. An entire week goes by without a return call. So on Friday I texted Accardo since she gave me her cell number in case I had any problems after the first visit. I told her how nobody would call back and if she's going to finish the procedure. She calls me and explains how there's nothing she can do for me. She called me aggressive and rude lol What a joke She tells me how she uses 55% nitrous oxide and 45% oxygen and refuses to go any higher. I say I feel nothing with that and need it higher to complete the operation. I explain how a simple google search will tell you that you need a 2:1 ratio such as 70% nitrous oxide and 30% oxygen for it to be effective. She is clueless. I then call the office to email my x-ray to a new endodontist. The lady tells me I'm sending it right now and I will call them to verify. So I'm waiting for the new place to call me back. The call never comes so I call them to confirm they received my x-ray. They never received it so I call Accardo's office. Then the lady tells me she couldn't find it so she never sent it. Umm hello, shouldn't you have called to let me know. Then she finds it. Unbelievable.

I am writing this review from a person who gets a very high anxiety when needing dental work done. I needed a root canal reconstruction and decided to see Dr. Accardo because she was very highly recommended. I have never been so impressed with any dental practice in my 60+ years as I was when I saw Dr. Accardo. Her professional approach along with an outstanding staff made my experience with her painless. I highly recommend Dr. Accardo for any type of Endodontics work that you may need done.

When I made my appointment, I said that I had anxiety issues and had a high tolerance for NO2. As Dr. Accardo was decimating a tooth that she was supposed to leave in an intact crown for a root canal, I asked for more nitrous. She refused and shut me down, leaving me untreated and open to decay. Then she billed me--including $150 for the NO2. She is arrogant and unprofessional, and I'm furious at my dentist for referring me to her.
