Dr. Cheng-Ying Tsai

First and foremost, Dr. Tsai's dental office was a total mess. It's ridiculously cluttered, messy, and doesn't look clean. As a dentist, wouldn't you want to make your office appealing? I guess not. Here's my story. I had a tooth that had a cavity in it. Prior to seeing Dr. Tsai, I had no issues with this specific tooth. Long behold, as I was getting a checkup, Dr. Tsai said I needed a full root canal and crown. They billed my insurance company and I had hefty out of pocket costs for the crown which turned out to be overpriced piece of metal junk and overpriced. Less than two years later, I needed a root canal in that same tooth and the crown had to be replaced. My insurance company would not pay for this mess. I ended up going back to my former dentist who was all the way in Eastern Long Island who took a look at my previous x-rays and reviewed my tooth history for this tooth. He was wondering why I needed all this work when he said the tooth appeared to be healthy just a few months… before I saw Dr. Tsai. This was very disappointing to say the least. My point is, Dr. Tsai was looking to make more $$ off me without even sincerely questioning if I needed all this work especially a new crown which cost me a lot and turned out to be garbage. I should have shopped around for an honest dentist in Queens. I learned my lesson and have gone back to my previous dentist because he is much more experienced and trustworthy. So what if I have to drive more than 1.5 hours instead of thinking I could get the same results and expertise with Dr. Tsai. Wishful thinking. I don't recommend Dr. Tsai to anyone. I'm putting up this review to warn hard working people that if these choose to see him, to seriously due your due diligence PRIOR to start any treatments with this guy. Shop around for costs and QUALITY. That is most important or else you will end up like me spending thousands.
