Dr. Albuquerque is experienced and professional in her area, but the way she charged us left us stunned and speechless. My pregnancy is straightforward and simple, and nothing close to high risk at all. We came into her clinic with excitement at the beginning of my pregnancy, received very standard (nothing fancy or additional procedures) ultrasound on the fetus for two times separately in the first and second trimester. For the first trimester, she charged us two ultrasounds fee when there's really only one- 10 minutes scan. It was not even performed by her, and she only came in to see the pictures and spent 2 minutes to explain that there are no concerns. We appealed, and only obtained the answer that the ultrasounds are for two different purpose - one is to check the baby for the first time, the other is to check on the risk of Down Syndrome. In reality it was only one 10 minutes scan. We were not informed there will be two charges before, or even after the appointment. These were… all explained by the appeal process. Then, for the second trimester ultrasound, which is usually more detailed, there are no complication on me at all. We ended up received a bill which is way higher than the local billing standard, which in average it is billed $200-600 dollars for an ultrasound, and I was charged for $1,100. It does not matter whether I met my deductible or not during this time, it was unfair and stressful for us to fight with the billing payment of the medical office, and the insurance company. I appreciate her profession and the service she provided, but the way she billed us, with the service she provided and the uncomplicated pregnancy I had, it gave us the most uncomfortable experience with the medical service. Medical service should make us feel secured and comfortable, not to bully us and push us to deal with the horrendous appeal and bill payment process. Without any further support and continuous insult from both medical bill department and the insurance company, and not risking our own credit report, we have no choice but to pay her. If you do not have a deep pocket, you should think twice to go in.

Dr. Albuquerque was really kind, charismatic, and a strong communicator. She explained things well. I recommend her to all my friends.

She is a wonderful doctor, very warm and kind. I like how her explanations are very clear. She takes the time and goes out of her to make sure everything goes as smoothly as possible.
