Dr. Cheryl Dewan Bansal, MD

She treated my teenage son for almost a year who had severe acne on face and back. She kept recommending laser & other treatment, which cost a lot of money and was totally ineffective. His acne became so bad that he has developed deep, permanent scars, depressions & red discoloration all over his face & back. His back is so bad that he cannot take off his shirt in front of any one. We asked her about Accutaine and she kept delaying it saying there was no need for that and her treatment would work. After almost a year, his face and back became almost disfigured and we decided to take him off her treatment. We then took him to another Dermatologist who immediately recommended Accutaine. His severe acne immediately stopped, but unfortunately his scarring is so deep and bad, that it has effected his self confidence; his desire to socialize with friends has dropped significantly and he has developed a severe complex. She could have easily recommended Accutaine to him when she saw that the… laser & light treatment she had recommended was not working. But because she was making a good amount of money by having my son come in for regular treatments every few weeks, she decided not to recommend an alternate treatment. We found her with no ethics and her attitude toward treatment is totally driven by money and greed and not by what is good for the patient! A very, very disappointed patient and a parent!!

I had a appointment today and there was an accident so I called before the appointment time that I am running late. the staff told me if I am more than 15 minutes late I will have to reschedule. I was there at 19 minute but they would not let me wait and had to reschedule. There was only one patient there waiting. they could have accommodated me but one person in staff was too stubborn. First time I was there I had to wait fro more than one hour for Dr to be seen, but they cannot tolerate if we are 5 more minutes late!

She told me what she was doing and what she might have to do during the procedure. Continually asking me if I was all right. Short wait till she saw me.

I've been going Dr Bansal's practice for more than 5 years, yet I've never met her! It's always one PA or another that sees me. In 2014 a biopsy was done on something deep within my hair on my scalp; it was benign. After my most recent visit there (the PA didn't consult my chart or check my scalp), I was finally fed up and made an appointment with a Hopkins dermatologist. Thank god I did. That spot is now a full-blown MELANOMA and emergency surgery is scheduled for next week.

If you want to be triple billed, incorrectly billed by all means go to Dr. Bansal.

I had some minor cosmetic work done in the past with another doctor and was very pleased with the results. I thought it was expensive and their bedside manner was lacking. At the recommendation of my dental hygienist who had an annual check-up and thought the doctor had been thorough, I decided to check on their cosmetic services and went to an open house. The staff was warm and the prices were great. In order to get the great prices, I paid cash at the open house for 2 minor cosmetic procedures. There was no insurance involved, although they did ask me for a copy of my insurance card. I scheduled an appointment to have spots removed from my face, chest, and legs with liquid nitrogen and an appointment to do a dermapen treatment to help with wrinkles. I have had liquid nitrogen before and it has always worked beautifully. I did the age spots first and then a month later did the dermapen and every time I look in the mirror I am upset which is why I am writing this review. The dermapen… actually made my face look worse that it had prior to the treatment. I can see little marks that were not there before and the wrinkles, of course, are still there. The liquid nitrogen for the first time ever did not do the job I expected. Not only that, to add insult to injury, I recieved a bill from my medical insurance telling me I owed a $30 co-pay. There were two cash minor cosmetic procedures that should not have been billed to the insurance company. I called the doctors office and was furious. The doctor had me come in and she redid a few of my spots. She also said I signed a paper saying that if they found anything, they could bill insurance. I am honestly not stating that correctly. I just know that they double billed for the age spots procedure. I called their office again and wrote a letter about my dissatisfaction and did not hear from the office again. I learned a very valuable lesson. Even though I thought my previous doctor was expensive and had no bedside manner, the results are all that matter and the money spent was worth every penny of my hard earned money. I also learned that even if it is a great price but doesn't work than it is really expensive. I am an educator and do not make a lot of money. This was a very big treat for me and I am still disappointed when I look in the mirror and can see the damage. I do not expect big results and really would not want any procedure I do to be that obvious. I just expect to look in the mirror and know that I look a little better than I did before and that people who see me might say, "you look refreshed". I would not recommend that anyone do these two procedures with this office. I am still debating on if I should bring this, to the attention of my insurance company. Even though I signed some form saying they could submit it to insurance if they found something, they did nothing extra or different other than what I paid cash for (actually a check) to warrant submitting it to the insurance company.

I made an appointment online and was seen within a week with a PA with the letter B. A prescription was recommended and I was told I would most likely need a Prior Authorization; indeed I did. The prescription had been sent to my pharmacy less than 5 miles away from my home. The next day I received two messages; one from this doctor's office another from a 2nd pharmacy. This office chose to have my prescription sent, next, to Frederick Community Pharmacy (over an hour away), because I was told they had the manpower to handle the prior auth. This pharmacy said they could fill the prescription and mail it to me for $125.00!!! My highest pharmacy co-pay for brand drugs is $25!!!. I called the office and told them I was NOT using this pharmacy in Frederick and not for $125! The doctor's office then called the script into Express Scripts (for mail order) and NEVER did the prior authorization. I never use Express Scripts mail order pharmacy, and I never got the prior authorization. Repeated… calls to this office have gotten me nowhere. I better not end up with a bill from this office like another reviewer; if I do I will further investigate their shady business practices and will get on every online doctor rating site I can and will contact the BBB and the Maryland Board of Physicians. Boo to Bansal!!!

I have been seeing Dr. Bansal for a few years now. I have brought my kids to see her. She is very professiona, easy to talk to, and a great listener. Sometimes it can be hard to see her because she is so booked out (popular I guess) but if I have a problem with my kids or a weird mole she is very accommodating. I have not seen any of her practitioners.

She is knowledgeable in her field.

Medical service was as expected. However, no one informed me before a follow-up visit that my insurance would no longer be accepted. I drove to an 8:30 am appointment and did not receive service. I would think they'd comp me an evaluation for my trouble and their mistake.
