Yolani P. Edirisinghe, DMD
Dr. Edirisinghe joined Dr. Sokolowski’s practice in April 2009. She received her D.M.D. degree in 2003 from Tufts School of Dental Medicine, Boston. Born and raised in Colombo, Sri Lanka, she received her initial dental degree from the University of Peradeniya in Sri Lanka, where she was honored by the Pfizer Scholarship for being first in her class in the second year preclinical courses. At Tufts she was also recognized as a High Clinical Achievement Recipient, a recognition given for high clinical performance in a demanding curriculum.
When Dr. Edirisinghe initially arrived in the United States she worked as a research assistant at Yale University, Department of Cardiology. In Sri Lanka she also pursued studies in Child Psychology and Child Development and worked as an assistant speech pathologist before she joined dental school.
A member of the American Dental Association and Connecticut State Dental Association, Dr. Edirisinghe regularly attends lectures endorsed by these associations. History of the Practice
Our Milford, Connecticut dental practice was founded by Dr. Williams in 1945, upon his discharge from U.S. Service in World War II. Originally located in Milford Center, the practice grew so rapidly that Dr. Williams planned and built a large dental office in 1960 across from the Milford Town Hall. In 1988 upon his retirement, Dr. Chet Sokolowski took over the practice from Dr. Williams, and in 1990 moved the practice to its current location at Harmony Place.
Dr. Sokolowski continued the care of the practice and eventually left to pursue a career in anesthesiology. In 2009, after completing 6 years in private practice as an associate dentist, Dr. Edirisinghe joined the practice. In the years since the practice was founded, it has continuously grown, with doctors and staff - both present and past - taking a great deal of pride in the care we are able to provide our patients.
