Chika Okonkwo

I had an extremely negative experience with Chika Okinawa, a mental health nurse practitioner. From the very beginning, she was incredibly rude and condescending, making me feel more like I was being judged than helped. Her demeanor was unprofessional and dismissive, and it was very clear she wasn’t taking my concerns seriously. She also appeared to be intoxicated during our appointment, which made it incredibly difficult to understand her. She slurred her words, was hard to focus on, and seemed unsteady in her speech and actions. It was concerning, to say the least, as I could barely communicate with her about the issues I was facing. To make matters worse, she prescribed me a combination of medications that I later found out were dangerously conflicting. I trust healthcare professionals to be informed and responsible when prescribing medication, but after consulting with another professional, it became clear that the combination she gave me could have had serious, harmful… effects. Overall, I would strongly advise against seeing Chika Okinawa. Her lack of professionalism, poor communication, and questionable medical judgment made for a very unsettling and unsafe experience. I hope others can find better care elsewhere.

Terrible experience. Spends 5 minutes with patients and is rude and unprofessional. She should find a new profession.

I moved to Baltimore for about a year and Chika was one of the only psychiatrists that were available within a couple weeks. Below are some of my experiences. I will be reporting her to the Maryland board for malpractice. - First and every appointment lasted no more than 5 minutes. She asked the same questions every time. Are you suicidal, are you hallucinating, etc. The questions we’re meaningless and she could care less - She held my prescriptions hostage every month. The day they ran out (yes she wouldn’t fill more than one month at a time) she would send me a bill to pay via text message. If I wasn’t available, too bad, I would run out of medicine until she got paid her monthly fee. -She is the most unprofessional person I have ever encountered. She resorts to texting at terrible hours and will call you randomly for your “appointment”. There’s a lot more but please do not start working with her. If you do, it will be a short and meaningless relation that the sole reason is… to get your prescriptions filled.

He had just gotten out of the psych hospital and contacted Chika to get refills and she had apparently went on vacation abroad without telling him or setting up coverage, and refused to help him fill his prescriptions. it's been weeks and he has contacted her multiple times with no response. this provider should lose her license.
