Not personable. Always in a hurry. Speaks to me with his hand on the door as if he is ready to leave the room. Have called the office to talk about test results and have never received a return call.

I came to Dr. Bergstrom by chance. I was visiting Greenville when I noticed a drop in vision acuity. My regular retina specialist was located in NYC so I went to see Dr. Bergstrom here in Greenville. Within a few moments of seeing images of my retinas, Dr. Bergstrom was able to give me a correct diagnosis-- it turned out my regular retina specialist in NYC had misdiagnosed me during six years of regular visits. Until I saw Dr. Bergstrom, I was under the impression I had a benign eye condition, but I actually have a genetic eye disease, a form of juvenile macular degeneration. Had I not seen Dr. Bergstrom, I would have never known that and wouldn’t be taking the preventive measures to slow the disease progression down. He also pointed me to a good retina doctor in NY (since that’s where I was living) in order to confirm the suspected diagnosis (which was correct) and get genetic testing. Also, since I was paying out of pocket, he was really considerate about the cost, and made sure to… order only the necessary tests and nothing else. He walked me through the whole process, explaining everything step by step, encouraging me to take photos and notes. I’ve seen him twice now when I’ve been in Greenville and both times he’s been highly knowledgable, considerate, and kind. I would recommend him highly to anyone.
